“Edit: there’s nothing in this post that implies anything against reacting “twinkling watermelon”. in fact it’s referenced as a show I’m aiming to cover. I was mistaken about the episode length of “marry my husband” some how people read this and started talking about twinkling water melon. Which is their right to do. But i dont see what about this post inspired that

My Approach to Kdrama Recording Logistics,

Its not JUST VIEWS, (REMEMBER NOT ALL THE KDRAMAS ARE EVEN ON YOUTUBE)

I apply various forms of Nuance in making decisions, thats why I ask you Questions rather than JUST Poll, I talk and gather the Nuance to make a choice along the lines of the following:

1. Why Relevancy Matters to Me:

Relevancy is crucial in my decision-making process when it comes to choosing Kdramas for my channel. I focus on both Timeless Shows and New Shows because they each have their unique appeal. Timeless shows like "Goblin," "Itaewon Class," and "It's Okay to Not Be Okay" have enduring popularity, so I can record them at any time. However, I aim to cover New Shows like "Moving," "Twinkling Watermelon," and "Worst of Evil" while they're airing because that’s when they're most relevant. I've learned that covering new shows too late means missing out on valuable "Relevancy Points."

2. Length and My Weekly Recording Cap:

I look out for Kdramas that are around 12 episodes, each 1 hour long (Marry My Husband), because this format allows me to explore more stories and fit more shows into my week. Juggling two longer Kdramas, especially those with 16-20 episodes at 70 minutes each, makes it difficult to maintain a diverse content schedule that includes anime and Western live-action as well. I post two Kdramas at once to cater to different tastes, bingeing one to completion before rotating it. This approach also helps me keep the content fresh by alternating between Kdrama genres.

3. Navigating My 27-Hour Recording Limit:

I've set myself a strict maximum of 27 hours a week for recording. This limit challenges me in two main ways: Editing, Recording My Other Channels Content, Responding, and General EVERYTHING ELSE I GOTTA DO LOL!

  • I need to carefully choose shows based on their episode length to make the most of my recording time.
  • Balancing this recording schedule with the demands of a traditional job means I have to ensure the content I produce is truly worth the time I invest in it, essentially justifying my choice not to work a conventional job.

4. Engaging with an Active Community:

Being part of the conversations around new shows is important to me, both as a content creator and a fan. New releases spark discussions on social media and in comment sections, and I don’t want to miss out on that. While I understand the value of covering older, classic shows that my audience requests, I also want to stay connected with what’s current. I watch what my community watches, and I don’t want to miss out on the hype.

From this first-person perspective, you can see how I meticulously balance my content strategy to cater to my audience's diverse preferences while also satisfying my personal interests. My approach is a careful blend of engaging with trending content and honoring timeless classics, all within the logistical confines of my recording schedule.  Top Ten Channel:TopTenTenmedia https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCuNdZh1QIN_oQ1E4_HGux2g?sub_confirmation=1

There is such a HIGH demand for it. You gotta have your rules in place other wise it gets overwhelming. The list above is freaking awesome.

HIM

HIGH-LEVEL dissertation, my guy. Love the insight! 🔥❤️‍🔥

Mell

I applaud the list above. Cause you know what you can't please everyone and you have to set guidelines for not only the channel but yourself and your team to keep making this content. I really appreciate time taken to make this post and the way its give insight into what effort goes into choosing content for the channel and keeping patrons happy. You're doing a great job and I really appreciate it! 😊

Jude

It's difficult to make everyone happy. Do what you enjoy the most. I really liked all the shows you reacted to. Most of the new shows are hyped and popular because they are still fresh in the people's memories, that's why old great shows are less requested. I would really appreciate if you consider adding comedy kdrama shows too. Specially the legendary ones with strong cast and diverse actors 🙌

Marry My Husband is also a 16 episodes (60-70 minutes) kdrama btw, 12 eps are released and 4 eps are yet to be released in following 2 weeks.

Gloccr

marry my husband is 16 episodes long so i dont really understand point 2. twinkling watermelon is objectively better. sounds like you just want to watch the more cliche/overdone plot which is fine. i like both shows

Maritza

I totally vibe with the rules, you gotta set the boundary. Only,as a long time KDrama watcher(think 10 years at this point),while there are some favorites with upto 12 episodes(My Name,May It Please the Court,Weak Hero Class 1,Mask Girl etc.),most great dramas with dedicated fanbases(and also popular) are about 16 episodes. Think Itaewon Class,It`s Okay to Not be Okay etc. What I am saying is absolutely go for shows you think sound good, but also keep in mind that there are many great KDramas to explore with 16 episodes. I`m gonna support you regardless!

taeri

Marry my husband is also a 16 episodes long at 70 minutes each. twinkling watermelon is better story and unpredictable plot. it is highest rated drama of 2023 so it will get high youtube views too. i think you just don't wanna watch TW which is fine. I love your reactions so I will watch anything ♥️

Just a little bit of advice, if you really want to know what is currently popular, rather than seeing the amount of views from YouTube clips I suggest checking out Mydramalist. I'm not a big fan of the site because the ratings are skewed toward popularity than quality but hey I think it's a good tool to see what's popular especially for YouTubers

H S

At this point, if you don’t wanna watch twinkling watermelon because of the above reasons then just don’t, we as a viewers will always recommend something worth watching. But this might be your 4th post about not being able to watch this show. Which is okay if you do not want to watch it however i guess the viewers getting confused on why because at first the sole reason for not watching the show was that it might be cheesy romcom and then you stated it does not align with your taste and then viewers explained it is far from that. Then you explained us about relevancy which they might not know enough about, from what I have seen think Tw will be attract more viewers (as it has some passionate viewers) as you can see lol. As much as I was recommending it, my conclusion would be if you just don’t watch it. Cuz if you wanted to you would have but since there are so many factors you shouldn’t, i also don’t wanna keep asking you to watch it when it is not gonna happen. And it is ypur channel always do what is best for it. Nothing but lots of love! ❤️

Yaboyrocklee

Thank you 🙏🏽. Slightly less strict on anime because if length of show but most of that is in common

Yaboyrocklee

Ohhhhh. Got it. Thought it was finished ha. But they are generally at about 60 minutes

Yaboyrocklee

I thought marry my husband was only 12 episodes. I wouldn’t assume things about me when i was clear about my intentions. Someone corrected me. But Number 2 is one of many reasons. Whether it’s objectively better or not it sounds like it matches our taste more from how people recommended it. i believe Twinkling Watermelon is a superb show for its demographic. It’s always hyped and is regarded by many as the best of 2023. I keept it positive and transparent with you guys. I hope i can be met with the same energy

Yaboyrocklee

The most accurate method for a reaction channel is the view on other reactions. Popularity is not important. Whether or not people watch it for reactions is the metric we need. Sometimes we do unpopular anime and they do well cuz we happen to me among the few covering it and the demand is just enough that. All i need to know is the results of corevreacts or every day negroes to know that there is a YouTube demand for it

Yaboyrocklee

Oh also. First paragraph “ . However, I aim to cover New Shows like "Moving," "Twinkling Watermelon," and "Worst of Evil" while they're airing because that’s when they're most relevant.”

R.S

I'm so confused with this discourse, please pick whats comfortable with you at the time and as the record shows, all the shows have been a great watch with you guys. I personaly am excited for marry my husband and twinkling watermelon whenever YOU decide to watch. Thanks for your reaction as always.

Bran Bran

Thank you for allowing us into your process. This information is good to know so that I can suggest shows that adhere to your process and allotted recording time.

2024-02-08 19:44:07 You know my opinion on this already. I love the balance you keep in here. Whether is live action (series or movies) or Asian dramas kdramas in particular I love the balance of a romance and something darker or action driven other days. Also the reason why I didn’t recommend Marry my husband yet is because it’s still ongoing and you know how I feel about that. Sometimes a show starts great and then the ending is not satisfying or at times a bit tone def too. So the jury still out on that since it’s not finished yet. They are some other shows coming out that I like to check out first too before even giving a recommendation for it. I thank u for always keeping this channel fresh. I have been here like 3 years I think it’s been that long and not going anywhere because exactly that reason, your ability to keep things engaging and new. Very grateful truly 🙏🙏🙏👍

Its so much more enjoyable to watch reactions when the person reacting is enjoying the show! So if you pick a show because it fits your criteria or you just like the sound of it thats great! People get way to emotional and annoying about all this stuff. If a show I don't like gets picked (basically any romance or cheesy show) I will simply come back over the next few weeks to see if you have picked up a show I like. Its really simple. I think that is what I will be doing again for this next round as well and that is fine!

Bran Bran

I have to defend YBRL on this one. @HS...So YBRL elected to let us in on his process when electing shows to help us suggest shows that better fit his process and allotted recording time and out of all the content he provided, you decided to focus on TW whilst misrepresenting his words to fit your narrative. The entire post was about his process and not about TW. I cannot find where he called TW a cheesy rom-com, or where he said "he did not or will react to TW. In fact, he mentioned several shows in the aforementioned post. I also can't find the 4 separate posts about TW where he elaborates on "how he is not able to watch the show." Quoting a person's words verbatim seems to no longer be of value; while leaning to your own understanding seems to reign supreme in this situation. This is disappointing to say the least.

Yaboyrocklee

Thank you 🙏🏽. You can still recommend whatever you’d like. I apply nuance but i have a guide. If i see enough people wanting something i figure our how to accommodate, i keep my ear glued to your feedback

Yaboyrocklee

I also thank you Bran Bran. I am gonna be mindful of what threads I respond to for my mental peace. Thank you again

Yaboyrocklee

Thank you. It’s supposed to be informative. People get disappointed about decisions so I thought this would help

No I'm just suggesting Mydramalist because you keep saying about missing the hype or something like that when talking about relevancy. That's because most reactors are reacting to kdramas that are already finished. With how quickly kdramas end, the hype of a new drama ends with the end of the drama too. Mydramalist is a good site to see what show is currently airing and popular among kdrama fans

Lis

A new drama was released today on Netflix titled A Killer Paradox, 8 episodes the drama is very good

Khadijah

you guys react to really good shows/movies.. whether I’ve heard of them or not. I just keep adding things to my own list as you guys post lol! either way it’s a great experience. please stick to what works for you! everyone sees the work that goes into the channel! i think polls are good if the responses are too lengthy to filter through! thanks!!

2024-02-10 01:28:04 Very well-written and thought out statement bro 👏 👍 I also think you need to be able to set the rules for your own content and schedule. There are many k-dramas (especially romance/comedy) which get high ratings but are honestly sub-par in terms of writing and directing. I personally think that the demographic of people who watch k-dramas or even chinese/japanese and other eastern dramas are very limited. As a korean myself I know that the people who watch korean dramas in korea are mainly women and usually 30 to 50 years old. I think there was actually a survey done on this. But anyways what I mean to say is that, the k-dramas (especially romance focused ones) are not always the most exciting or interesting yet still has a high rating/viewership. I just wish you kings and queen continue to do what you guys have been doing because watching your reactions is the best thing ever, no cap. 😎

I think at the end of the day, you gotta choose what you're most interested in and if it's choosing between two currently popular dramas then you don't have that much to lose because either way, the drama you choose will gain traffic. Personally speaking in terms of TW and MMH since that's what people have been talking about. I adored TW and I'm enjoying MMH. Actually, if you start MMH and watch TW after then reactions will start being posted just before or around spring right? This will add even more to the feel-good moments of the show(this was a sudden thought I had while typing this message lol).
