I felt bad for Teddy (because his actor is very good) for the brief moment when his voice broke until I remembered Teddy killed Franklins pops too. And whats funny is I think realistically, if Teddy took 35-50% Franklin would have still had an issue but it wouldnt have escalated to this degree. Alton was also a victim though, Alton was doing the OBJECTIVELY right thing, a lot of people forget that. What he did was the direct and obvious lead to his death, yeah, but that doesn't change the fact that he was in the right for wanting to get his family out of CIA shit that would eventually get all of them killed or thrown in prison for life. Nah, I get what he's saying. Basically, if you leave conditions bad enough for long enough, eventually it's going to hit critical mass. In fact the government did worse than ignoring it, it continuously and purposely added to the problems by funneling crack into the community to fuel wars, redlining to keep the community poor, literally infecting the community with the Tuskegee experiments (which we only even found out about due to a whistleblower feeling guilt.) and that's not even the tip of the iceberg. The whole point of the government is to take from its people to better it's people and it has habitually failed in that aspect for the community for centuries.

Kind of, but creation and rise of Frank's drug operation can be directly attributed to Altons failures as a father. The reason Franklin started selling drugs is because he never had any black male role models who were successful through legitimate means. The only role models he admires were Jerome, Kane(drug dealers) and his Dad(when he was on panther shit). He only saw success through rebellious, shadow economy ways. When Alton came back in the picture after being a deadbeat for the greater part of 20 years Frankin was already the manifestation of what a high IQ black kid with no guidance and opportunities would become. He was a multi millionare and the market for crack was already there. Whether he screwed over his son's operation or not, drugs would still be flooding the community and someone would profit. But almost no other drug dealer during that time would start non profits, open homeless shelters, improve low income housing units etc.,. So what he did was more a net negative than anything else for his community. He was an emotionally led person juxtaposed to a pragmatist and a deadbeat.
