I don’t believe any Viltrumite in the comics survived being decapitated. But basically either their brain or heart has to be damaged beyond repair for a Viltrumite to be assuredly killed, otherwise they are liable to survive and passively heal from most injuries (though it will take a while to heal depending on the severity).

nah, thats pretty much how it went in the comic just with more dialogue. the sentiment is still the same thing: i moved on. i cant go to viltrum or earth so im making my way here, simple pimple. viltrumites have bred out emotions as nolan has shown. he is feeling compassion and empathy for the first time, thats why its weird to you cause you are looking at it from an emotional human perspective when that is not the mindset of the viltrumites.

The Omniman situation is weird but you have to remember the kind of place Viltrum is. It's a cutthroat culture of survival of the fittest and they're all about completing their mission so when Omniman came to Earth and had Mark, after he displayed his powers he probably knew that it was only a matter of time until the others came to Earth so he decided right then and there to fulfill his mission. The only thing is he cared for Mark and Debbie so when Mark got in the way of the mission Omniman was conflicted when fighting him but in the end his feelings for Mark outweighed his mission.

it will work. you are forgetting that viltrumites can live for centuries and their dna is strongest. "mark, viltrum dna is so strong you are almost 100% pure viltrumite" nolan said in season 1. so baby o will age just fast enough so we not dealing with a baby for the whole series but the viltrumite dna will keep him living far longer than his mom's species. maybe half the lifespan of an average viltrumite. we will see.

After reading most of the comics I’m on issue 122, I can tell you Roshi and fam, yall have no idea what’s about to unfold. Not to spoil anything but the only reason why Nolan is conflicted isn’t just because of Mark, it’s because he fell in love with Debbie and how compassion humanity can be. Mark was the tipping point. To him we live such short lives but we cherish the simple moments. His people are some fearsome conquerors who are ancient and have grown further apart. Volatile and distant. Mark continues to grow and becomes wiser with each battle he faces. A viltrumite with compassion is a big deal!

they talked about that in season one as well. down to the cellular level viltrumites are extremely hard to kill. if individual cells wont die, a collection of them (a full body) would be even stronger. you gotta stop looking at them as humans. things humans wouldnt survive they would. short of total cell atomization, never think they are dead. head chopped off, body cut in half, these american saiyans keep a ticking.

i’m gonna be that one devil advocate. i personally still think omni man will redeem himself some way or another. i’m not saying the terrible shit he did in s1 was justified, but i have a feeling it’ll be a endeavor situation where the series wants you to hate him, but later on you realize he’s a really complex character where he has potential to somewhat be looked as good. i don’t read the comics so don’t be bringing up “well actually he doesn’t become better🤓”. imma just wait until we see more.

Some interesting bit of trivia. In the comics Donald was already a cyborg/mostly robotic when he was first introduced. Him having “died” in the field was actually just a part of his off-screen backstory that he mentioned one time. So it’s interesting seeing it turned in an actual arc on the show. It’s one of the things that highlights how the original comic was much more irreverent in tone compared to the show, similar to how Mark’s reunion with his dad in the show is (understandably) far more hostile than it was in the comics (the greater sincerity of the show, is part of why I prefer its presentation of the story over the comics). If it wasn’t clear by Nolan surviving having his back broken, both Lucan (the Steve Harvey-looking Viltrumite) and Thula (the one with the dagger braid-hair) both survived their battle with Nolan as well (despite their grievous injuries). Viltrumites basically need to have their brain or heart be damaged beyond repair to 100% guarantee their death.

I think you have to keep in mind Nolan is thousands of years old, so it's understandable to see him move on since he grew up being cold hearted. The "pet" line should give it away not only him being cold hearted but his logic of seeing other species that aren't Viltrumites. I would think that sort of thinking from a person over thousands of years doesn't go away over night, let alone 6 months. In the beginning, yes, Nolan tried to off himself by drifting into a literal Black Hole. To fix the Thraxan question and Nolan's Thraxan son: Yes, Thraxans only live for a standard 1 Earth Year. As for Nolan's son, the mixed DNA makes him age faster in his infancy, but will slow down as time goes on in his later years. Nolan has only been gone for roughly 6 months now Earth time; so yes, the Thraxan dna made his son age super fast, but in the comics he'll age slower as time goes on from the Viltrumite side of things.

I remember seeing a comment from a comic reader about the intentional decision to make Omniman go to a bug planet that is only bare minimum anthropomorphic a way to put us in the mindset of a viltrumite. Because, the common reaction is to be like ew why are you fucking a bug, but then you realise that is essentially how they see us (if its not viltrum its the same) thereby revealing an interesting hyporcrisy. This doesn't just serve to make Omniman more sympathetic or anything but it adds a really cool depth to his mindset and how it changed after his time on earth and now this bug planet. Also, while I was obviously rooting for the humans in season 1 (since thats literally us right), my view on Omniman's out-of-touchness and apathy towards our race to be just an extension of how we see animals/livestock (I think the word livestock literally comes up). And I don't mean this in a super vegan/PETA way but moreso, from Omniman's perspective, it must be strange that we're so hung up about the loss of these lives etc. when we commit 1000 holocausts every day against all kinds of animals without batting an eye - because from our perspective its just the way of the world and we are above them in the food chain (and viltrumites are above everyone else). And I think Roshi's joke "they're gonna die in a week anyways" is bar for bar what Omniman said about us which is what makes this part of the story cool (not that the joke is that serious lol but it is what makes Omniman's character more interesting to me). I hope what I said makes sense and this is development is honestly what is keeping me hooked for this season because my personal opinion is that so far this season has been very whatever.

- I have mixed feelings about the whole Nolan situation. I understand where both Mark and his dad are coming from, and it's difficult to say with 100% certainty what actually is the right thing to say or do. Nolan clearly is dealing with guilt and regret, and in that regard I do respect him a little more than I did before. On the other hand, what's done is done. It's not like he can take it back, and it's not something that's easy to forgive either. The best thing Nolan can do at this point is to spend the rest of his life atoning. He's got a long life.... so that's plenty of atoning that can be done for the shit he committed. Though he is up for execution, so..... both Nolan and Mark are basically caught between a rock and a hard place. Very difficult situation for both of them. - Things are starting to look up for Debbie, I think a change of environment is gonna be good for her. - My current theory with Donald is that there was some Viltrumite blood involved in the cloning or something. So he's not 50% Viltrumite like Mark, but he's got enough to bend a knife like that from stabbing himself in the arm. I don't think it bent cuz of metal, we would've heard a clang, no? - Viltrumite with the braid kinda bad? Maybe? Kinda sorta? - Also, you gotta be kinda stupid to think Omni-Man would die from a broken back. Like really? I really love this plot point, I remember having the same reaction. "These people only live for a year, what does it matter if.... OH MY GOD I get it now" How you guys were saying "You only waited 6 months to start a new family and have a kid?" that is like a viltrumite telling a human "You only waited 50 years to start a new family and have a kid?" "I mean, they was gonna die next week anyway" => "I mean, they was gonna die next decade anyway" Honestly I was never more immersed into the mindset of a superhuman character then I was for this, you find it so hard to care for their lives, but by comparing it to how humans are seen by viltrumites I can understand that it doesn't matter how much they live, they should be respected as any sentient creature.

Okay so first things first, the aliens like the bug people and Allen’s girlfriend are WAY sexier in the comics. Second, Viltrumites have crazy regeneration. That’s why Mark survived Battle Beast blowing his back out and why the black guy survived. Third, Cecil was there. He has tech that lets him teleport, they showed it in season 1.

So a few things that got cut from the Thraxxa stuff compared to the comics Mark breaks down crying when he sees his dad again(i get why they changed it here) Mark DOES actually duff the fuck out of Nolan when they meet but of course it doesn’t do anything except Nolan makes a comment about Mark actually being a little stronger now Mark also does not have a little pep talk boost in the comic. Matter of fact he gets shit on the whole time in a few ways There’s a chase scene where Lucan(Steve Harvey viltrumite) chases Mark and Mark comments how he’s pushing as hard as he can to fly as fast as possible but Lucan is still catching up to him Mark also punches one of the viltrumites in the back of the neck and it does next to nothing Mark makes a comment to Nolan about never having to push like this as far as strength goes and Nolan basically explains how Viltrumite strength works where you actually have to work out and push yourself to get stronger and Mark has never done that The whole fight also takes place from day to night showing just how much endurance they have And the Viltrumites do actually give Mark aid and get him bandaged up before they dip(not sure why they cut this part)

I suspect the big reason they changed it to have Mark match the Viltrumite rather than just getting his ass beat like the comics is that the show hasn't done what the comics have to establish that he's the baddest dude on Earth. I said this in response to someone else, but it becomes a lot harder to reconcile this worldview when you can communicate perfectly between similarly intelligent species. The bug people look like bugs, but they clearly have much more intelligence and autonomy than earth insects. You could liken the behavior of how certain insects behave on earth to that of a fungus more than animal. Instinct and simplicity of brain function drive most of what they do. If cows could sit down and communicate to us in a human language that they think it's fucked up we are killing them for meat, I think a lot of people would feel differently. If animals were literally pleading for their lives in the slaughterhouse, it would probably be pretty hard to keep that place staffed. This is why what Omni Man did was so fucked up. He could hear and fully understand the pleas for mercy from humans and he is aware of their sentience, he just doesn't care. There are truly some classifications of organisms that do not experience pain and suffering the way we do. Plants, for example. It's still iffy, we do not really understand how different species experience the world, but it's clear there are different categories.

I mostly agree with you but in spite of that the most common response you see from people to this episode is usually indifference or joking (like Roshi) towards the bugs which is ultimately the point. It’s so easy for us to disassociate and change our tone as soon as we can dehumanise something which is exactly what the viltrumites do to us. The fact that we look like them is only relevant insofar as it becomes more palatable for them to breed with us (as seen from this episode) but ultimately unless you have their blood you are simply below them in the chain and they will easily commit atrocities without blinking (to our and invincibles horror despite our propensity to do the same). I think it was really cool of the writers to point out this sorta hypocrisy in our nature which further develops the character of omni man in a way which makes him far more interesting than other “bad guys”

I gotta admit, it doesn't feel like Mark has earned the right to damage a Viltrumite at all yet. If there was some major training, we didn't really see it. He seems stronger but Nolan seemed thousands of times stronger than him in S1 and I get the impression that Nolan is not among the strongest Viltrumites at all.

Thats another change they made actually. Thula(dagger haired lady) was never with them on Thraxxa in the comics. Instead it was some random Viltrumite that does die. She was fairly important later on in a few ways in the comic so if she is actually dead here it’ll be kind of disappointing to not get those But she’s not to be fucked with in the comic. She’s just as old as Nolan(if not a little older if I remember) and just as trained
