Well you gotta remember his humanity is fading and from a human in a game perspective the lizard men are the least offensive in his eyes to watch fight, it would feel like mobs. And he didnt actually know about the breeding experiments...well he has a suspicion sometimes but chooses to dismiss it as he's better off without the confirmation. Like yes he's messed up but at the end of the day most of the human SUFFURING caused by his group, arent his plans, he's kinda forced to go along with them due to his fear of the NPCs from Nazrick betraying him.

In the light novel it's explained at some point that the sisters of that girl were sold of as slaves because of their parent's debt. Not sure, but they might have died as well.
