just rewatched this and if you pay attention when demiurge orders them to kneel you could see them being forced and in nix case see the pain of struggling to not kneel but paladyne the old man didn't have that pained expression so dead giveaway of him already have bended the knee

IIRC Jircniv has some item that can resist low-level mind control/suggestion, which is why it didn't affect him. Demiurge's ability isn't that powerful, but unfortunately for most of this world's inhabitants, neither are they.

Remember theres a scene a few ep back where Fluder have been requested to meet a couple of adamantite adventurer and the scene were cut off? Thats when they met them both. Also the death knight probably was there way before Ainz arrive to this world.

Some non spoiler tidbits from the novels that add some light to a couple scenes that I recall: 1) the death knight was a natural spawn. Fluder didnt get it from Ainz. Its easy to misunderstand that in the anime since you never see them other than with Ainz (they are VERY powerful compared to the humans. One can threaten to topple cities and large areas) 2) Fluder knew about Ainz, but he didnt expect the extent of all the power (such as the control weather magic being cast by someone other than Ainz, and the fact that Ainz controlled death knights, which he wasnt aware of... so his freak out and fan boying was not an act there 3) Demiurge used his voice command on Jircniv too, but the emperor had an amulet that resists mental spells (or compulsions?) which is how he resisted. 4) If I recall correctly, the group was taken through the levels of Nazarik (so they saw essentially multiple crazy worlds that showed even more godlike power of Nazarik) and then in the throne room, a load of high class servants were lined up on both sides... like all of which could wreck anyone the humans knew of easily. They obviously cut that to save budget, but I was a bit sad since it sounded so epic when reading about how imposing everything was for the Emperor's group, making it even more impressive when Jircniv mentions how he was proud that everyone in his crew actually went all the way with him in the throne room. Jircniv had an item that protected him from the demiurge [Control Mantra] Edit: The skill only affects beings of lv 40 and below and can be resisted by higher levels or Mind-control resistance Items. The item in question, his necklace, isn't strong just enough to fight it, if he didn't have it he would be affected

Honestly I think you guys don't give Ains enough credit, he really is a masterful leader and strategist, he just doubts and questions himself internally, but in reality he really is highly intelligent. He doesn't think like Demiurge but that's because even if he has mentally and physically become more "alike" to his game persona, he is still a Human at least in general. But that is a strength in a way, he understands human hearts and mindsets better than anyone in Nazarick ever could; Demiurge was literally made to be cold and calculated while Ains is kinda forced to be that way by whatever event happened to bring him to this world in the first place, whatever that event/system really is. I wouldn't say Ainz is highly intelligent. He's smart enough to know when to keep his mouth shut and not show how dumb he is. Ainz only graduated elementary school which means he only finished the 6th grade before he had to go to work to support himself. His irl world was a big dystopia. He was working himself to death in a broken run down apartment as a bottom tier office worker. The only thing he cared about was the game. All of his knowledge is really about the game and the things he learned from his friends. Ainz actually works his ass off to try and learn more. He's constantly reading books his friends put in the giant library. He's also certainly smart enough to put the people he trusts in certain positions to make sure the job is done.

Each knight is picked by the Emperor himself. Regardless their background or history. Means that their loyalty is also different Apparently Gasef killed 2 of the last in the annually war. Baziwood Peshmel / Lightning Bolt: He is the tall muscular dude with ponytail and chin beard He is a commoner born in a back alley. Because of that he became strong to survive and is also very informal. Was trained to be formal but even to Jircniv he talks blunt and honest. Became a noble. Google says he is a womanizer and married several prostitutes and has good relationships to them. Leinas Rockbruise / Heavy Explosion: The only current female of the 4 knights. The least loyal one She is formal but direct and blunt Born as a noble and earned glory by killing monsters. During that she was cursed and her right face side was transformed to a disgusting state. Family disowned her (fearing a scandal) and her fiancé dumbed her. Her goal is to break the curse and she would do anything for that. Even betray or leave Jircniv if a better opportunity arises (Jircniv knows this. That was part of the deal for her to become a knight. He also dealt with her family and fiance.) One hobby is writing a revenge diary Nible arc Dale Anoch / Violant Gale The smaller blond. He is I would say the most loyal Tbh his character sheer is rather boring Just stating that he is the second son with 2 older siblings and 1 younger sister. He got Jircnivs attention when he was young because he is skilled. Has good relationship to his family and currently the title of count because of many achievements. Worries if he should arrange a marriage for his little sister while worrying his other siblings because he himself is not married. Nazami Enec / The Unassailable The last one. Died because of Mare There is not much known. He doesn't talk much and was selected because of his skills
