I dropped it after the first episode, then watched 2 to give it another chance and now I'm hooked. This one is fully carried by character chemistry, not really by a plot, plus more characters will show up through the season, kinda like how Komi was episodic stuff. Also where's Better Call Saul?? Recent episodes was amazing

For me personally, I'm only watching Call of the Night because it's one of the few decently good new anime this season. I don't think it's going to become anything crazy though. If you're trying to replace Kaguya with something that's currently airing or came out recently, I would suggest "A Couple of Cuckoos". However, if you're just looking for a replacement in general, I would love to see "My Teen Romantic Comedy" or "Fruits Basket." :)

Currently on episode 2 and it has a nice Lofi feel. Artistically, lighting and VA wise I love it, but obviously unsure if the story will turn out great or not. Glad y’all picked it up, seems like it’ll be a nice show to fill the gap. Also OP and ED slap, this plus Kakegurui and Overlord have the trifecta.

I said premise, I have no idea what is in store, so how about paying attention to what I said. I have seen the 2nd episode too btw and opinion still stands. I will say I have seen plenty of series that start iffy like this and get good, I'm not being a hater. For me there isn't anything exciting that is being set up "yet".

Also, fun fact about the ending theme. Its the author's favorite song. He asked the band for permission to use the name of the song for the manga. The song name is yofukashi no uta (call of the night). Its amazing how its now the ending theme for the anime :]

I understand what you are trying to convey @Zen Reacts. I do believe depression is far more complex that just chemical imbalances in the brain. Depression is believed to be caused by faulty mood regulation by the brain, genetic vulnerability, and stressful life events. I was just viewing the life events he's experienced which brought upon his insomnia. As stated in my previous comment I eventually started to view things from his perspective. I just couldn't see things his way in the first episode and passed him off as being irrational. I dealt with chronic depression, social anxiety, and agoraphobia. People had opinions on me. No one should expect someone to make the right call on someone right out the gate. What we should expect from others is to be open minded and accepting going forward. So yeah the MC was annoying on the first episode. In episode 2 I learned more about him and my opinion of him changed.

Ah its not that bad. They kinda go overboard with the premise in the first few episodes, but the later on its not the main thing. I like him. He is genuine kind person and is a good boyfriend. The main draw of the show is obvs the cool girls Shikimori and Kamiya.

It has two seasons, no prior gundam knowledge needed and the brotherhood theme is right up your and Sheera's alley. The character developement is awesome and you will care about the crew and story. I'd love to see a reaction to "The Duke of Death and His Maid" someday. I won't lie, the visuals and animation are underwhelming, but the story itself is quite heart warming. Not sure when, but a Season 2 was confirmed, so I'm guessing the show was well received. I think it'd be a great series for you two to watch.
