For clarification on power scaling characters, it was explained in the first episode but a lot of people forget, there's 7 ranks for Swordsmen and Mages, beginner, intermediate, advanced, saint, king, emperor, and god. Gallus was a Saint rank and while Rudeus is a water saint mage, swordsmen still have a great advantage at close range so if not for his eye of foresight, Rudeus would've been mincemeat

I still feel like Rudeus could have done better though. I get the power scaling and that the north saint is great at close range but it still felt like rudy was thrown off a lot and could have done better. Not saying he shouldn't have had help to beat him but it always seemed like based on his level ups he should have done better. Just my opinion tho.

the beast people laid on their backs showing their bellies becuase that's what cats do when they are showing submission. Also Rudy was stripped naked and splashed with water because beast people consider that the most shameful punishment possible suitable for only the worst criminals which is why it wasn't done to Geese who just cheated at dice (I consider it like spraying your cat with water when it did something wrong lol)

In regards to why the beastmen got in the position they did to apologize to Rudeus, dogs will lie on their backs and expose their tummies as a show of submission, vulnerability, and trust. I found the fact that the beastmen did so too to be adorably funny.

Rudeus once asked the beastfolk servants at the Greyrat mansion if they were happy working there. They said that aside from Eris's grandfather being a pervert, they were happy because being hired to work there was better than being a slave somewhere else. They were still abducted and sold to the Greyrats, but being sold to Eris's family was the "good" outcome compared to being sold to some of the other nobles.

I think the beast folk laying on their backs was more to the affect of how many social animals will do so as a show of submission. Expose their bellies, and such. Dogs, Cats, Hyenas, and even Lions do that.

While weird in how the beast people lay down and asked for "punishment". We also must remember that these are part animal. Most animals (Like dogs) would lay down and show its stomach. Mostly a sigh of submissive.

@kryptonyte He totally could have done better, but this was really his first attempt at a human fight with fatal consequences (the Eris kidnapping he was really just trying to get them out of the situation, he had no interest in fighting there) - especially with anyone of such a high level. Also just my opinion, but Rudy tends to underestimate his own abilities, which leads him to being more timid than you may expect.
