It didn't take long word of Applebloom and Stone Mane actions Link to get around Ponyville in my Equestria dreamscape. But for most ponies they only got second or third hand accounts. However for a select few they got direct eyewitness reports.

Rarity's horn glowed as she levitated both her pint glass and the bottle of Redmane Rich Oatmeal Stout up to eye level. Carefully she extended a facet of her levitation holding the bottle manipulated swing top stopper on the bottle. It made a pleasant hissing sound and almost immediately the mare's nostrils detected the rich smell of the stout. Tilting her pint glass to the correct angle she admired the rich, reddish brown fluid and dense ivory foam that slowly filled the glass.

Having filled the glass Rarity took a moment to admire the colors of the stout before bringing it to her nose of sniff. Since her first encounter with stout Link she'd learned exercise moderation when drinking it. Link She desired to avoid that unpleasant experience again. Link  As she sniffed the beer she thought.

"Mmmm. Yes. The merchant was not lying when he said the smell reminded him of freshly baked oatmeal raisin cookies! But I am also getting hints of hazelnut, black tea, and coriander. Interesting!"

Having taken a sniff she brought glass to lips and took a sip. Carefully she swished the beer around in her mouth. Slowly a smiled spread across her face.

"Oh by the stars! What a pleasant taste and texture! So creamy. The malts have been toasted just right, and the oatmeal adds a sweetness to it without being cloying. Not only does it smell like oatmeal raisin cookies, but I am getting flavors of raisins, nutmeg, cinnamon, clove....and what this? Orange peel? Mmm, and here comes the hops. Rich smell floral notes and just the right amount of bitterness. Excellent!"

It was at this moment that Rarity's quiet beer enjoyment was interrupted by the sudden, unexpected arrival of her little sister Sweetie Belle. Although the mare was able forgive her when she heard what the filly had to say.

To be continued.

Manners, darling. Now dish!

As much as the gustatory delight was fun to read, I do have to point out that somewhere along the line, the word “stout” got replaced consistently with “stoat”. I suspect Rarity isn’t drinking weasels.

Glad to see these two seem to have a healthier relationship here than they did for most of the show.
