Content

Hey all!

I'm working on some DCC (with 5e conversions obvs) style content that's in line with some of my trap/puzzle-heavy dungeons like Trapped Tomb, Kirin-Born Prince, and Emperor of Bones. Since Aereth is Goodman Games' IP, I figured I'd make my own nutty world to host these adventures.

I've got a few concepts below that I think are cool. Vote for the one you like best, and I'll take it from there.

  1. The Ashen Realms: A world covered in volcanic ash where the sun is rarely seen. Kingdoms are built around the few fertile areas near volcanoes, which are both a source of life and destruction. Adventurers commonly seek ancient artifacts buried under layers of ash, braving ash zombies, fire elementals, and rogue sorcerers. Basically, Helkara.
  2. The Sundered Lands: After a cataclysmic event, the world is a series of fragmented islands floating in the sky, connected by ancient, crumbling bridges and magical airships. The void below is teeming with winged beasts and air pirates, making each journey a perilous adventure. The fragmented nature of the world has led to diverse cultures and dangerous political intrigues. Basically Omerian Echo.
  3. The Eternal Night: In a world where the sun has been swallowed by an eternal eclipse, societies are built around sources of artificial light. The darkness outside these safe havens is filled with unspeakable horrors and mystical creatures. Adventurers seek out lost sources of light, and ancient knowledge or just try to survive the terrors of the night.
  4. The Iron Deserts: Vast deserts of rusted metal and abandoned war machines from a long-forgotten war dominate the landscape. Nomadic tribes worship these relics, and city-states built in the husks of giant machines compete for resources. Adventurers are scavengers or mercenaries dealing with mechanical beasts, rogue AIs, and the harsh desert environment. Ugh, I love this one. Although it sounds a bit like MCC.
  5. The Sea of Trees: An immense, dense forest covers this world, with civilization existing in clearings and atop gigantic trees. The forest is alive and not always friendly, hiding ancient spirits, feral elves, and colossal beasts. Adventurers are often hired to chart new paths, protect settlements, or delve into the heart of the forest to uncover its mysteries.
  6. The Crystal Wastelands: A once-fertile land, now a shimmering wasteland of giant, magical crystals that mutated the flora and fauna into bizarre forms. Kingdoms vie for control of crystal mines for their magical properties, while adventurers navigate the treacherous landscape, crystal storms, and creatures that have adapted to this sparkling hell.
  7. The Boundless Depths: A world of endless caverns and subterranean oceans, lit by bioluminescent plants and creatures. Societies exist in vast cave systems, constantly threatened by earthquakes, underground rivers, and creatures from the deep. Adventurers are often spelunkers and treasure hunters, exploring the unknown depths for fame and fortune.
  8. The Shattered Empire: Once a vast and powerful empire, now a collection of warring states, independent cities, and lawless regions after a magical cataclysm shattered its unity. The land is dotted with ruins of ancient splendor, dungeons that were once majestic palaces, and battlefields turned into haunted grounds. Adventurers seek fortune among the ruins, serve as mercenaries in ongoing conflicts, or explore mysterious phenomena resulting from the cataclysm.
  9. The Frozen Expanse: A harsh, icy world where eternal winter grips the land. The sun is a distant, weak presence in the sky, providing little warmth. Civilization clings to survival around geothermal vents or in insulated cities. The icy wilderness is home to ice giants, frozen undead, and mysterious auroral entities. Adventurers are often involved in expeditions to discover lost cities encased in ice, hunt mythical beasts, or brave the elements to connect isolated communities.
  10. The Realm of the Fey Shadow: A world where the barrier between the material plane and the fey realm is thin, resulting in an ever-shifting and unpredictable landscape. Enchanted forests, whimsical cities, and nightmarish swamps coexist in a delicate balance. The inhabitants are a mix of humans, fey creatures, and beings transformed by the realm's magic. Adventurers navigate the whimsical yet perilous fey politics, deal with curses and blessings alike, and explore ever-changing terrains that obey no natural laws.

All great settings, but the Realm of the Fey Shadow seems like it fits the chaos of DCC's magic the most.

I love Dungeon Crawler Carl! Oh… not what you meant?
