I got a Jury Duty summons for tomorrow...

I got it weeks ago. The thing I really hate about that is the part were you don't find out if you actually have to go or not until the night before. That causes so much anxiety since you can't know until 6pm the day before whether you can sleep in and have a normal day, or if you have get up early and head downtown to spend your day sitting around waiting to see if you even get called...

Every moment as it gets closer to 4pm, you worry that they will call you to a courtroom at the last second (it's happened to me before. They called us to the court room at 3:50pm and we were there until 7pm) or if you'll get picked for a jury. So whether you are working or not it still derails your entire week because you know you have to either finish everything before Jury Duty day or just not start anything until after, because you may be on a trial for days...

With my sleep schedule all messed up (been a night owl since high school, but with lockdown and everything it's totally backwards now) getting up early enough to get to the courthouse on time means either not sleeping at all or sleeping the entire day before... neither of those is really a good option... And if you oversleep, then you have to go another day within 30 days (done that too) so it ruins two days out of your month minimum...

I got lucky this time... Just found out I don't have to go...

There got to be a better way of doing this... Without all the anxiety... is all I'm saying...

That is all... Back to work for me...

More stuff soon. Stay safe, stay sane, be kind to yourself and others

Look at it this way. You found out you didn't have to go. When I lived Vancouver, if they were short on jurists, they could grab you off the street. 🤪

I have never been picked for jury duty and talking to a friend, they said that its all based on you social security number. Some people will never get picked, others will always get picked. One person said they got picked three time in two months. I remember because they said that they were thinking of making that their actual job. lol

I think every state does it a little differently. Where I live, the do "One Day or One Trial" and after you come in, whether you have to serve on a Jury or not, they can't call you for two years. Friends in the county almost never get Jury duty, but in the city you get a summons every couple years. My mother served on three murder trials in a row... LOL
