This is a questionable story. The events depicted in this comment took place in Hollywood in 1990ish. Against the request of the filmmakers, the names have been kept the same. Brothers Joel and Ethan never won an oscar, despite their previous stellar record of supurb films. "Bet ch'a," says a brother to another, "if we say our next movie is 'True' it'll get a gosh-darn oscar." Hands shake, movie made, 7 nominations and 2 wins later... Out of respect for the unnominated, the rest has been told exactly as I heard this somewhere or other, shoot-to-heck if I remember.

I completely forgot he was the dad in that! The film was so overwhelming I really only remember the mom and the kid. Everyone else was kind of only in my peripheral.
