Progress Report - March 7, 2022 (Patreon)

Hello, everyone!

Have you ever had a week where, when you sit back and reflect on it, you genuinely can't think of a single thing you did that past week?

That's what this past week has been for me. I genuinely don't know where the time went. It feels like I haven't done a single damn thing. I must've done things, but whatever it was, I don't have anything to show for it.

It miffs me, as I'm sure those of you who have been around for a while know, but I am choosing to let it pass, rather than dwell on it. The past few weeks have been this way, and you all saw how frustrated I was by it last week. That kind of stress isn't healthy for me. So I am choosing to avoid getting stressed by it. It is what it is - all we can do is press onward.

Toward that end, I have made progress on the potential on-stream pitches. I have decided to scrap the Lulu idea and Scarlet idea as candidates. The former, I just wasn't that satisfied with it. And the latter was being brainstormed-by-committee on my Discord (I pointedly stepped back and let them figure it out), and the committee kinda lost interest and fell apart.

At the same time, I have figured out a DVa project pitch. And I have to say, I'm actually quite pleased with it. Allow me to quickly run through each of the three pitches now.

Merigold's Corollary [idea by Lduke]

Powerful sorceress Triss Merigold, in her unending quest for uncovering the secrets of chaos - the mysterious force that drives all magic in the mortal plane - stumbles across an ancient text, suggesting a unique method of channeling the power. The intricacies of chaos are convoluted, but underneath it all runs a fundamental principle: all power comes from somewhere. And this text suggests that, with the proper knowledge, chaos can be channeled with nothing more than the ecstasy of sex itself. Triss is determined to learn how to master this lascivious new way of powering her magic. Does sucking balls direct chaos better than deepthroating? Is anal more tantric than vaginal? Is it better to herd the maelstrom of group-sex energy, or focus the intensity of intimate coupling? There are just so many experiments for Triss to perform!

Dress to Undress [idea by Gama]

Honoka is a gold-star lesbian blissfully aloof to the intricacies of dating rituals and sexual relationships. Tamaki is an open pervert who uses her profession as a tailor and dress designer as an excuse to run her lecherous hands all over her clients - male and female alike. When the two friends decide to go out for a night on the town, Tamaki wistfully uses her talent and passion to whip up an outfit for Honoka that no one will forget. But she gets distracted by Honoka's huge boobs, and indulges herself by dressing the excited Honoka up in sluttier and sluttier outfits, before her lust gets the better of her and they both end up taking their clothes off altogether. Forget eating out - tonight, they're "eating out"!

Documentary Debauchery [idea by LordAardvark]

A college freshman attending a film school needs to film a documentary for a class project. Armed with nothing more than his smart phone, he shoots for the moon and reaches out to his e-sports idol, Hana "D.Va" Song, if he can film a documentary following a day in the life of an e-sports superstar. Against all odds, she not only accepts, but offers documentary gold: following her preparing for a championship game the very next day. He expected the meditation, diet and exercise, and reflex practicing. He didn't expect the company-moderated 12-hour gangbang the night before. And he definitely didn't expect D.Va - the wholesome, family-friendly face of the e-sports scene - teasing and coaxing him into becoming the director of her documentary-turned-porn-film. And they say don't meet your heroes!

I haven't figured out exactly how I want to choose what will be the next on-stream project. The obvious choice is "just make it a poll," but I am afraid people will just blindly choose their favorite character, rather than choose what they think is the most interesting idea. 

Those of you who have been around a while likely know by now that I've never really been one to focus on characters for characters' sake, I'm not one to be satisfied with just a pretty face (or big butt). The potential to tell a compelling story is what drives me, and I think all three of these are interesting stories in their own right. Triss explores the ever-interesting-yet-oft-underutilized concept of sex magic; DVa has the experimental pizzazz of being framed entirely as a gonzo documentary; and Honoka & Tamaki being a lesbian story honestly is enough to make it stand out in the 3d animation scene, being so underrepresented as a whole.

So I am going to continue puzzling over how best to figure this out. In the meantime, I'd love to hear your guys' and gals' thoughts - on the ideas as a whole, on what you think of each specific idea, which idea you find most interesting, which idea you'd like to see made most (may be different than the previous one!), and how you think I should figure out which idea we end up going with.

That's all I have for now. I'm going to try to make a conscious effort to get work on Overbreed done this week. I'm still at a loss as to where the last 7 days went... But here's hoping this upcoming week will see some actual measurable progress made.
