Rabbit.Hole Episode 2 - Progress Report 1 (Patreon)

Hey all!

So I meant to write this a few hours ago (when it was still Thursday), but Patreon was having some trouble with their scheduled maintenance. All is well now, though, so here we are!

Rabbit.Hole Episode 2 is fervently under production! All of the major voice talent has already gotten all of their non-lewd audio recorded; I had a very arduous (but very productive!) month of preproduction in May, which resulted in a crazy amount of new assets being made (all of which will, as always, be released as a Content Dump after the video's release); all of the core sex animations were built earlier this week; and I am currently working on getting all of the variants of the sex animations done now.

Unlike Phazon Experiment B, the sex animations in R.HE2 are a bit more involved than just loops with detail & narrative animation built atop it. There's a fair bit of uniquely moving around to facilitate some narrative progressive (and visual eye-candy) within the sex scenes. See the screenplay if you're interested in what all that means.

I was originally hoping to have all of the sex animations ready to send off for dubbing by the 8th, but that's just not going to be the case. I partially blame Software, Inc , though I think it's really more a scapegoat than anything. The hard burn on preproduction in May has tuckered me out a bit (I think May was more laborious than April, which was spent animating Phazon Experiment B!), and I am feeling a bit of lethargy as a result. I am hoping that the slow Friday and Saturday will help me recuperate some energy.

Right now, I am eyeballing the 12th for getting everything sent off. And luckily, between the arduous pre-production and the fact that everyone has already recorded all of their non-lewd audio, that means that I will be able to send off the dubbing animation and immediately get to work of narrative animation. Which is all actually fairly simple stuff, sans maybe a half-dozen shots (which, in a screenplay of 70+ shots, really is an inconsequential amount).

All of which is to say that, once the sex animations are out the door, production should pick up some tremendous speed.

Last but not least, you might have noticed that the video for this post is a bit... unconventional.

That's because it is the very tail end of the new intro sequence I made for the series! I actually made the sequence for the intro of Rabbit.Hole Episode 1, but production for that was already lagging behind, and the intro sequence was insufferably long (over a minute; not very effective for a 4ish minute episode).

But taking the expectation that Rabbit.Hole Episode 2 is going to probably be somewhere between Phazon Experiment B and Miranda Versus the Galaxy in terms of runtime (which is to say, somewhere between 7 and 10 minutes), and combining it with the fact that I managed to recut the intro sequence down to a smashing 26 seconds, and I am confident to formally include the intro sequence in R.HE2 and further episodes.

I wanted to show the whole intro off to you guys this week, but my composer is having a tough time getting a sufficiently upbeat and grating K-pop beat to go with the intro. He's used to composing classical film-score music, so Ordagon's been having to train him in the ways of obnoxious mainstream electronic music. He's restarted the composition like 5 times already, and it's literally a less-than-30-second diddy.

But his last iteration was pretty promising, and I think that with Ordy's guidance, he will definitely have it ready to be shown off next week! Combine that bumpy K-pop beat with the lewd D.Va logo art that Witchking made for me over a year ago, and throw in the 10(!!) sequences I ended up animating and rendering for it last year, and I think you all will be quite pleased (or at least amused) with the sequence.
