Last weeks episode was a reworked version of the Star Trek TOS episode 2 Charlie X. Even down to the face removal scene. This is probably why it rang a bell while you were watching it.

I still feel like Josh doesn't fully get this show yet.. his ideas of what is gonna happen are very much American.. we definitely do thriller and such differently, much more subtle and nuanced.. Endings aren't always tied up, more leaving it up to the viewer to imagine.. Dialogue is used a lot more to convey emotion rather than physical acting.. The 'push her out the window', 'don't try to go down the stairs', don't get in the truck' are all valid guesses as to what was about to happen in US shows like Miami Vice, Love, Death and Robots, Inside Job etc.. I feel like British shows have sudden moments followed by a bunch of maybes..
