The Special 'Scissored Isle' is basically a sequel to this episode.

I think you’ll also enjoy This Time With Alan Partridge, sidekick Simon also appears and with it not being stuck in one location there’s just a bit more variety, especially with more visual jokes, it also feels a much bigger and higher budget show. I love Mid Morning Matters but i was glad to see Alan finally getting his chance to host a show again after his character got stuck doing radio for over 20 years, it’s a more modern Knowing Me Knowing You but with an equally good female co-host. The two seasons of that are just great in my opinion. Looking forward to Scissored Isle though it’s awesome

Sadly, I think the quality started dropping off in the last few episodes... Some shows seasons start weak and get better, some are consistently good from the start to the end and some like this start strong and and get weaker, especially the last few episodes in this case.

I enjoyed This Time in a gentle rib tickling way, without really having many laugh out loud moment's... For me, he's milked the character for too long and needs to put Alan Partridge to pasture sadly.

For me, Alan is at his best where his pettiness, insecurities and narcissism are uncensored, which is why I'm Alan Partridge is Alan at his funniest. Mid morning matters had flashes of that Alan, which is why I view it favourably. KMKY obviously had extreme moments of that excess, but was far too unrealistic at times and episodically uneven. With This Time, Alan is all too aware that he could easily get the boot if he doesn't reign in the more unpleasant aspects of his opinionated and abrasive personality and is too well behaved, which removes a lot of the humour. I wish they had balanced the studio scenes with behind-the-scenes material of an unfiltered Alan (perhaps in his dressing room or canteen) being overly demanding, bullying production assistants, or toadying up to executives etc. Just seeing a moderately self-aware Alan deliberately holding himself back is (for me) a disappointing missed opportunity and Alan at his least funny.

This was a really nice way to finish up the series, really funny episode and they gave them quite a positive ending. Unusual for UK comedy. I think the specials are some of my favourite Alan content. Can't wait to see them again

Great end to the series. It's always great fun to see Alan's complete inability to talk to women mixed up with his insecurities, arrogance and ultimate desire to be loved. This episode also leads on to 'Scissored isle' which is a fantastic standalone episode of Partridge.

I completely agree with this. As a character, Alan Partridge has become increasingly sympathetic and reined in over the years and whilst that does add depth to his character, it also robs him of so much of what made him funny in the first place. I think that This Time with Alan Partridge should have been closer to The Larry Sanders Show, where we see Alan being a self-serving twat behind the scenes a lot more, intercut with snippets of the live BBC broadcast.

The 2nd special is slightly connected to this series/episode although the first special came out between the 1st and 2nd series of Mid Morning Matters. But they're more just fake documentaries rather than having any story so it's not gonna be jarring or anything.

Open books is brilliant and introduces Josh to the idea of listening to the audio books which in my opinion are absolutely brilliant.

I do really like Mid Morning Matters, but these episodes were originally aired for free on Youtube as part of a Fosters comedy promotion, along with many other comedian's skits. They were never intended as anything more than low budget short episodes. New writers were brought on board, so the quality was never quite up to the usual Partridge standards at that time. They still managed to be really good, but not as good as the specials, the Audiobooks or This Time, where I think the new writers really managed to nail the modern Alan Partridge.

They are good but you can tell it was more low budget than the other Alan shows, but they are still enjoyable.

LOL this was a great episode. Alan is so goofy when he talks to women, it feels like you should feel sorry for him but also embarrassed.
