As this is in the end Shoujo story. The male lead is 100% Kin to the emperor, maybe even a bastard child of Emperor. I will be shocked if he isn't a relative to the emperor. Sorry for rambling I wonder if the reason that mao mao said she wasn’t suited to be a poison tester because she had built up her resistance to poisons is because the type of poisons? She can usually tell poison from sight, smell, and taste which is great but if it was a orderless and had no taste her body would just fight it of while on the other hand giving it to the concubine would still be poisoned. Like mao resistance is good for her but maybe not the best for the concubine. I also like the red headed concubine. She’s fun and playful but is smart. She only has so few ladies in waiting not because she can’t get more but because she only chooses some she knows the history of or trust. The whole scared of the emperor’s x3 duration joke was actually hilarious. My mans the emperor got that Dawg in him. The aphrodisiacs story about it being gifted to the lady by one of her clients in the hopes of getting some only to get banned once the only lady in charge found out. You would think that paying to spend time with them would mean sex right? So you wouldn’t need the aphrodisiac?But from what it sounds like it’s not guaranteed. Which is interesting.

I wonder about that. Because it was stated that there is no empress than any of the children from the emperor and a concubine (at least the high tier ones) probably wouldn’t be seen as bastards. I was also wondering if the high tier concubines are treated as wives of the emperor? Is the empress who the emperor chooses? Or is it whoever is the first to give a male heir? That may be why there is so many poison attempts especially when they are pregnant.

As long as you lose the package after going through puberty, your unit can still function normally, you just cant knock anyone up. I believe if you lose them before puberty though you have trouble and basically zero sex drive (as you never have a chance for the big changes that flooding your body with testosterone brings). You may be able to compensate with hormone therapy, but they definitely didnt have that in this time period.
