Saucy Jonathan

I forgot baki still in school 😭

Orlando

hell yeah best arc incoming

Charlie baker

No the original baki vs yujiro fight was the end of season 1, we saw emi alot in s1 and saw everything they showed

Denn B

I’m still confused why they never watched the first season

Joshua

Yeah! Baki’s mom was in the og series right till the point when yujiro killed her

memebigboy

S1 was a flashback arc in the og manga, but they went with chronological order for the anime. But yes she was shown in the anime, not just her death.

Kingmakaii

Baki mom treat him like shit his entire life then for like 30 seconds shows she loves him Baki yeah I got beat this nigga up now to repay back her love from that one time nigga WHAT 😭

lomez

So did Baki kidnapping George Bush in public somehow never make the news that he can just go back to school like that?

Ren

KENGAN ASHURA NEXT PLS

lomez

This. The Baki vs Yujiro fight was the end of the kid Baki arc, all of the scenes shown in this episode were in it.

Indifferent Denji

I mean she was the only parent who has ever shown him an ounce of affection. He taking wut he can get dawg

Jeremiah Wagner

Yeah Bakis mom was jumbo trash. She kissed him because he reminded her of yujiro and treated him like an object for yujiro. It took her watching Baki die to realize how trash she was and then she died for him. And if Baki had normal parents I’d say he being crazy but his parents are not normal. He’s still being crazy wanting to fight for her but considering who his parents were it makes sense why he acts crazy

RazzyXM

huh, didn't realize you guys never watched s1 of the original Baki series. its pretty old but it might be worth skimming through to fully understand what went down.

Gordon Lou

emi was in the original series and the whole thing was fully explored regarding her distorted love, desires and twisted methods to achieve them, baki's whole goal for revenge, growth, desires for love and his life, etc. The segment about emi in this episode was essentially a brief recap. It was a pretty emotional story.

Devin B

Emi was able to get two types of love just before she died, she realized the love she had for Baki as he was on the brink of death and she received the love/respect from Yujiro that she always wanted from him when he went as far as to treat her like a fighter.

Indifferent Denji

I think baki knows his mom sucked but hes delusional because he desperately wants to have real parents. So emi standing up to yujiro was a huge thing to him, it may be small for us but for someone who has had no motherly affection from her, her sacrificing her life for him was a lot for baki. Notice how baki always downplays his fights with his father as if it's just a normal father son argument when in reality hes fighting a insane psychopathic, mass murdering, rapist and war criminal. hes trying to make his family seem better than it really is because fighting and downplaying things is how he copes. sorry for the essay y'all

Hasnain Khan

Yehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Devin B

Also you guys need to at least watch that last bit of season 1 of og Baki because it shows you her thought process as Baki was fighting Yujiro. At first she was happy that Yujiro was enjoying the fight but when it looked like Baki was dying her maternal instincts kicked in for the first time. She was trash to Baki for all his life but at least she loved him enough in the end to give up her life for him and that was all Baki wanted from her.

That Guy

The doctor is also a fighter he fought baki one time in the underground ring and is the brother of the cord cutting karate guy.

Lotus Gramarye

Baki treating the scrap of affection his mother game him once like it's a treasure is spot on abused person response.

Xavier Baker

alright, what would you want Bush to do against him, much less the Hanma family

lomez

Even if law enforcement could do nothing about it, the school could expel him to avoid bad press. Also, he'd be famous and attracting attention when out in public.

Ranginald Vagel

Baki's mental is deeply fucked up

That Guy

They didnt even show the part where baki carried his mom corpse in the street because in his eyes she was still alive.

Bob Heath

Y'all should check out the OG series at some point. It does cover a lot of what was recapped in the episode, as well as how Baki met a bunch of the characters we see now. It's still batshit insane, but gives interesting context about how fucked up Baki's life was

Daylen

Baki’s mom was there throughout season 1 of Baki the grappler and it goes into pretty good depth of her character and what happened when she met yugiro. Season 2 shows how Baki became the champion. Also I feel like there’s a lot less BS that happens in the beginning part compared to the current stuff haha

Emmanuel

Woulda dragged like hell but damn do I wish they watched the OG series because that flashback content really hit in full context 😭

illnamethechannellater653

The news was probably squashed before it made international news you wouldn't want other countries knowing your president can easily be kidnap or the news cycle is so wild people forgot all about that I mean the was a whole caveman at some point only in world explanation I can think of 🤷🏾‍♂️

YungZeus

Didn’t she ass kiss him on the lips one time? I don’t remember, but I swear she did that and it caught me off guard and I was completely weirded out by it.

Phroug

The whole flashblack this episode was already covered in OG Baki, they reanimated it here in their modern style. They actually skipped over some parts to it as well, like when Yujiro actually kills Baki''s mom by squishing her in a hug, he drops her limp body on top of Him, Baki later gets up and carries her dead body through the streets because she was still alive in his eyes

Jebro245

It’s so weird how Baki as a series has tried to move away from Yujiro being a piece of shit lol like at the early parts of the series this man used to walk into boxing gyms and lock the doors and beat the hell out of everyone inside just because he wanted a fight like early on he was this irredeemable pos that wanted nothing more than a challenge and was willing to hurt anybody that even seemed strong to see if they could do anything

Vincent S Deluca

Bakis mom at first just cared about Baki getting strong enough to fight Yujiro and gaining his love, but she is a mother as much as she wanted Yujiros love she LOVED Baki, even if it was distorted, when they fought and he was getting beaten down, her maternal side stepped and she challenged him to a fight to defend her son which against yujiro she knows is default death lol. Also while it’s just a flashback rn this actually happened in the OG series, with all of this fleshed out in an entire episode or 2 Also Heads up the doctor is a fighter too lol, he’s also from the first part of Baki before you guys jumped in, that’s why he’s so built his whole thing is using his medical training to beat people down

Wild

He got bored because he already knows he’s the strongest, in the past he was finding every way possible to get stronger which was by doing what u just mentioned being an absolute ass and searching the whole world for someone strong to beat, when he travelled the entire world and realized everyone was full of shit (and earning the title of strongest creature) he basically said “ight I need a son to give me a real challenge” and started smashing until he had Baki, Yujiro is a pos don’t get it twisted, he simply reached his final goal and has no reason to degrade, he’s only goal is beating someone stronger than himself which is Baki, he wants to devour (pause) the strong to become stronger

Jebro245

I actually appreciate you for this small recap because I read Baki the grappler like wayyy back when I was in middle school and I couldn’t really put my finger on when his personality shifted and why I haven’t been up to date on Baki in a minute so I randomly see panels every once in a while on ig and bro is lowkey chill asf now💀(apologies for the yap session)

Marc Williams

Yeah, you guys did yourselves a disservice by not starting with the original series. This newer installment of the franchise expects the viewer to already be familiar with the events of the story, so they're not liable to put in too much recapped context. She basically came to realize that Yujiro was absolutely irredeemable, she could not fix him, and her paternal instincts kicked in after Baki got folded like a pair of jeans. She challenges Yujiro, who back then was more of an irredeemable monster - as he never held back against anyone who challenged him, and as such she was killed without any hesitation because she wasn't a primed fighter. But yeah, my point in saying all of this was to clarify the confusion as to why her decision was supposed to be way more impactful than showcased in this one. Baki is genuinely so messed up as a character, he's the definition of tragic. The original Baki was much darker than anything you've seen up till now. Yujiro is literally a war machine, who slaughtered armies with his bare hands during the Vietnam War. Also, Baki had carried around his Mother's corpse on his back after the fight, beating on the police who try to stop him and having a mental breakdown on the entire way through. These are just a few examples, but you've got a lot to see from the older anime and their manga series too.

David Emerson

No the series didn't start with Bakis mom getting her back blown out. That was towards the end of Season 1 of the original Baki from the 2000's. We get to see a lot of her character and how she treats baki. And yeah she treated him like shit.. Didn't understand the making out with your own son part lol.

Casey Hedge

So many wrong takes 🤣
