The club is called Kanabo and is frequently used by Oni in Japanese mythology. both Kaido and Yamato use it in one piece

PJ Rivera

The weapon big guy is using is a Kanabo, often used by japanese demons. A studded or sometimes spiked two handed club similar to a baseball bat. Sometimes wood or even fully metal

Charlie baker

Lmao the shock of the messenger shit cracked me up

Charlie baker

Thats a kanabo (granted a gigantic anime one), its a Japanese war club made of a wooden batton or bat with rounded metal studs embedded at equal spacing on the weighed end. I was so excited to actually see one in a samurai show for once. You can read up more here if youd like https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kanab%C5%8D

Danger Tomato

Maan this week of reactions is gonna be dope

HIM

Couldn't wait, had to finish up the season on my own! BOY, the 2nd half sure is strong with this one 💪 I can't put it up there with Arcane or Castlevania yet, but it's actually a refreshing thrill ride regardless.

Mari

Don’t know if I’m trippin but the voice actor for the dude with the patch on his head sounds like to VA for zuko from avatar

Starscreamer

Not Roshi saying “Ringo has hands, bro” 😐

Wrëck

that wasnt a person it was a saddle

Wrëck

lol right i thought that too but its a white dude

KingDom

He took the other horse’s saddles and tied them together an put it on his back. Y’all must all need glasses the thing on his back didn’t even have arms or legs lol

Hasnain Khan

Yehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Bunny

It wasn’t a body, Ringo grabbed the saddle off the third horse to us as a shield.

Anonymous

It’s Darren Barnet (Paxton if you’ve ever seen Never Have I Ever)

alex amyot

it was not a body it was one of the other saddle

Rai

Yea its Darren Barnett he's in never have I ever and has a Japanese grandfather and actually knows Japanese

solo prince

Been waiting for this one

TheyCallMeKingz

taigen knows mizu isn't a man he made a joke about it. im guessing out of respect he uses the he/him pronoun

Mari

It does a little bit to me🤷🏽‍♂️

Anonymous

All she needed was some contact Lens and she would have been great

Mr. Glasses

bro why does Taigen sound exactly like Mako from The Legend of Korra lol

AnnameSama

He doesn’t know. A man who “needs to hands to piss” is inept. Taigen assumes Mizo holds his dick with one hand. A woman posing as a man and learning to use a sword during that time period would be completely unthinkable.

Eehk

Princess is all in on Taigan for what?

Jaelyn Mcgee

plus when Mizu was a kid, the shaved head and the ponytail look would allow people to confuse her for a man, but I definently like the vibe of Mizu basically being a trans man

ViralCorgi

Noticed how he referred to the broken engagement, but said "you cost me my station and my honor", but not his woman/future wife...

Jimmy

It wasn't a body, it was a saddle. LOL

treyyy

this dude is literally evil Zuko lol. instead of a ponytail and no hair bro got a head full of hair and a bald spot

Brenda

Nigga you know dogonwell he don’t know she’s a girl

Isaac

A lot of people are focusing on Mizu's gender a little too much as if its the plot. Mizu's hidden gender is only an aspect of her character and the time period she's in. It's not a big plot point. Her mixed race of being half white is the bigger deal because it's visible with her blue eyes. So when people who don't know she's a woman says she's not a man, they will always mean it as her being a monster because everyone is basically xenophobic. Even though Shindo was shadey, I believe his words of hateing the white guy because he's ... well he's white. Xenophobia back then was very very very common in the olden days for obvious reasons and that's why they locked him away in a private castle just so people can't look at him which is extreme. I know later in the Meiji Era [ I think?] people changed their tune to white people. They would simp and spread their booty cheeks for the white people to remain in good standing for the sake of international politics at the time with Britin.

Mollywopper

Not this nigga makin small talk like he didn't try to murder her lmao. Stfu and wait for this smoke.

Smash Bran'Discootch

...Because it's Edo period japan. That would have been the priority. It would have been waaaay weird for him to have put his woman above his honor or place within society. Especially since he worked his way up from a fisherman's son.

Mollywopper

we already saw he aint shit earlier when he was drinking with the fellas.

ViralCorgi

@Smash That's the point of the comment. They made mention to his feelings (or lack thereof) towards Akemi, but he's always been loyal first toward his own ambition. Their engagement was, to him, a social come-up first and foremost. And it's also stands as a allusion to Akemi's father, who did the same. Only Akemi is seeing things through rose-colored glasses. She's idealizing love as a way to try to claim back a small sliver of control over her own person.

Isaac

Relationships with women and the mentality behind it were pretty different back then. Women were seen as objects of status which this show is doing well in displaying. He does care for her but yes he ain't shit because men of higher power or seeking to climb care more about that. Actually, men covet their relationship with other men differently to women and some can say they value relationships with boys and men higher than any woman. Women are different. Yes I mean exactly what I said in that.

Isaac

For love and her safety. Even if Taigen ain't shit, they've had a relationship for a long time. She's familiar with him, she feels safe with him unlike with other men who just sex and beat their women and blacken their teeth which she's not into getting done on her. So yeah even though taigen isn't the greatest, in terms of safety he's way better.

Isaac

Also ...why roshi gang think Ringo was using a body for a shield... where'd he get a body roshi? The only body available to use as a shield was pushed off a cliff....lol

Isaac

Nah Dante Basco is one of those actors where he only sounds one way due to lack of range. His voice is too iconic to go unnoticed and I can say in confidence that wasn't him. I do kinda wish he'd voice act more. I always enjoyed the sound of his voice for some reason.

Norman kay10

i am so glad to be part of this reaction family

Eehk

She is just as wicked. I understand the writing of pushing her as a “I am my own, free spirit” woman, but the story itself only presents her limiting ability to fend herself, plus just throw all her leverages to protect her Ego. A bit underwhelming is all.

Kinny Larsoking

“Ringo got hands” is crazy

JsnSkg

"You're not a samurai." "I never claimed to be. I literally never said I was a samurai. You all just shoved your assumptions onto me."

JsnSkg

Evil, how? He's not a good person by any means, but he's far from actually evil.

JsnSkg

Mizu swiped Taigen's scarf lol

Jonathan

Taigen out here like "It's me! I'm him... aren't i?"

Bria A.

Dante Basco is very one note and I say that with so much love lmao. Zuko and Jake Long could be the same person. That said, Darren Barnet isn’t white lol — most of the VA cast is appropriately Asian, if not specifically Japanese.

Drake Rage

The way Fowler smashed the messenger's head on the pointy tip of the chair, that is literally exactly how you break open a coconut too. That was shockingly brutal, lol.

rickie woodson

looked up the cast and wow. masi oka, george takei, and brenda song! they are doing such a good job, as is taigen's VA. better at voice work then live action i tell you what. and randall park......well, he's there

Anonymous

roshi: no nah ringo got hands. me in my mind: he literally has nubs

IBlazingI

it was the horse's saddle that they shielded the arrows on the horse with, not a dead body lmfao

Miguel Rios

the giant bat is a kanabo

Vermz

Taigen gives me zuko vibes. so i'd like to believe he'll come around.........eventually

William

I'm way behind on this show but this man Ringo is making me think of a Terry Pratchett quote about one of his characters from the Guards books that says "People thought Carrot was a simple man. And he was. But a lot of people's big mistake was thinking simple meant the same thing as stupid."

Jamaal Ellison

This nigga lost twice one of those times were to chopsticks, and was still trying to talk shit.
