society when people realize the magical girl transformation isn't actually happening in real time and it just rule of cool stuff for the audience >>>>>>

13

They already forgot how the anime ended 😭

Sha

Yooo why are there chairs all around Madoka's parents bed?

Goofyaah

This is one of the best movies on multiples rewatches bc u notice different things u missed or u see the foreshadowing for later, honestly a great thing since it’s like watching a new movie time and time again.

Isaac Tsumetsuki

I'm glad y'all got the difference in Madoka and Homura's love

Aden O'Brien

Homura did NOTHING wrong

Ronnie

Hope you guys eventually react to the side story, Magia Record, too. Bebe (Nagisa) is in it. It takes place between the main series and Rebellion

Gabby Boakye-yiadom

Mami and Kyouko were revived in the new world Madoka made. Sayaka was still "killed" because the events of her becoming a Witch still happened.

Liam Gilbert

In case other people haven't clarified this: When Madoka rewrote the world at the end of the series, it resulted in a timeline where Mami and Kyoko survive to the end (Mami doesn't die to a witch since witches don't exist and Kyoko doesn't kamikaze Sayaka since she didn't turn into a witch when she fell into despair).

Coalire

You guys actually followed along pretty well (the first watch can be pretty confusing). And I'm really glad you also caught why Homura did it. She did it because she believed it was what Madoka truly wanted (what Madoka told her in the garden scene). And I think it was for the best, because everyone is alive again, the incubators are under her control, and the Law of Cycles still exists to save magical girls (she only took the part of it that was Madoka as a person). If she hadn't done it, the incubators prob would have just done this experiment again with another girl and eventually would have gotten control of Madoka.

Homura

Mami and Kyoko died fighting witches, so Madoka's wish effectively negated the cause of their deaths, allowing them to be alive in reality. That's why they also knew about the world through the lens of Law of the Cycle with Wraiths instead of witches unlike Sayaka and Bebe.

CD

Lmao I fucking love when Lupa and Sheera gang up to annoy Roshi for the Madoka intro

Benjamin Moore

There are so many cool, small little easter eggs in this movie. Like when Homura was choking Bebe. Bebe literally says "Kyubey" (saying he was behind everything). Also Homura finally taught Kyubey at least one emotion: fear. Y'all should check out tv tropes on this show to see all the little details that y'all might have missed. Enjoyed seeing this show again!

JackTheDaniels

To clarify one thing, after Madoka rewrote the universe with the "Law of the Cycle" some deaths that you saw in the series were reversed, for example, Mami, she never died since the witch (Bebe) who killed her never existed, and that is why she is alive with Kyoko when they manage to get out of the labyrinth and the seal of the Incubators. And if you wonder about Sayaka, in chapter 12 they tell you that she died using all her power to defeat a "Wrait" and at that moment Madoka takes her to the afterlife. The reaction was fire!! and if you have time, you can check out a mini video that came out as a "sequel" to Rebellion, it's on Youtube and it's called "Madoka Magica Concept Movie", and the trailer for the new movie is also up and it's AMAZING!

Gabby Boakye-yiadom

It's actually really impressive how much they followed everything going on and even predicted some of the plot points. I think it took me 3 watches to finally get everything myself.

Coalire

Also, Homura calls herself as a "demon" or the concept of "evil" but that's not necessarily in a literal sense. She described herself as "a being who disrupts providence and acts as an agitator for the world" so basically, she became the concept of Chaos or Disorder (and she has reached a "conceptual" level of power, like Madoka did, though it apparently didn't cause her to cease to exist). Thats why she asked Madoka if she values order at the end, and knew that they would eventually be enemies, because it goes against the concept that she has literally become. She still loves Madoka though, hence the "even then, I will continue to wish for a world where you can be happy".

Friendly Elites

Homura never recovered from her transformation into Homulily. Her resets gave Madoka enough power as a Magical Girl to turn into a God and just like Hope brings and equal amount of Despair it made Homura powerful enough as a Witch to become a demon. During the act of Rebellion you can see what's actually happening is she's expanding her Witch's Labyrinth to encompass the entire universe which allows her to set the rules however she likes just as if it were a normal Labyrinth. She is at her core now a Witch with Madoka's stolen Godhood.

Gabby Boakye-yiadom

Honestly, in one angle can you really blame Homura for going off the deep end? Especially knowing how many loops she actually went through for Madoka she was already way passed obsessed in her mission to save her. Being the only one to still remember all of those events it'd be crazy if she wasn't a little cookoo for cocoa puffs.

Kurumi

top 5 rawest gun sequence in anime forever a classic choreography was ahead of its time

Pocparks

imagine loving someone so much you literally become satan just to be with them, that's passion fr also kyuubey trying to slip away in the middle of her transformation into a "demon" was so funny likes "wow maybe yall were right this whole time lets leave humans alone!" like HUH??? YOURE NOT GOING ANYWHERE TF!!!?? also i'm pretty sure (tinfoil hat time) if kyuubey got away there they would've came right on back after a long enough time to try and control homura the same way they did madoka after she rewrote everything to stop the cycle AND give them an alternative power source with the wraiths, it would've never been enough

PushyDruid

Madoka = bay over bae Homura = bae over bay iykyk

Joe

Can they do the experiment again tho, I thought the only reason they can try it is bc Homura remembers Madoka. Also I always thought Homura was being selfish and just wanted a world with Madoka, never caught that she was also taking Madoka's feelings into consideration

Clarencesmithofficial@gmail.com

I think the after credit scene is supposed to emphasize that the piece of Madoka, the records that were her before she cease to exist, are within her soul gem. My theory is that the madoka that’s walking around is the half of her that is the law of cycles that homura gave the memories of regular madoka and the records of madoka’s existence are in her soul gem. Madoka will eventually gain her powers as the law of cycles but to be whole she must also have the piece that homura keeps. The pink yarn that was kicked around by homura’ s familiars. That could’ve been major foreshadowing of what’s to come but also it represents madoka, the string or ribbon that represents their bond. When the universe was loading because homura created the principle of a demon that spindle of ribbon is literally, in my opinion, madoka. She then uses that very spindle to create her soul gem around it, her love of madoka is in her very nature as a demon. Homura is so infatuated with her soul gem because the person she loves will always be with her inside her soul. I mean that’s just what the grape vine told me 👁👄👁

Coalire

They could do it again. If they put another darkened soul gem in an isolation field, Madoka as the Law of Cycles would still try to go save the girl (even if they never knew her). It would probably just be a different "dream" scenario.

Mieruko Chan and Blood Blockade Battlefront Please

Legitimately one of the crowning anime achievements. Love this movie to bits for its artistic directing, plot, music, and characters

MDLNubes

So hyped for this :''''''''''')

Fadel Akbar

y'all better than me for understanding wtf is going on for the fist time

DarkGodHao

Lets get one thing straight, Homura isn't.

Obsessive Fanatic

Before I already loved Madoka Magica but after Rebellion I became OBSESSED. The dilemma between Madoka and Homura, between “I’ll sacrifice myself to save the world” and “I’ll sacrifice the world to save you” Is incredibly intriguing.

Amir Shipp

For Homura, the ONLY thing she had to cling to was Madoka. If she quit at any point, she died as a witch. Whether it was hope of saving Madoka or regret for even doing it for Madoka, for 12 years her life was solely around Madoka because she couldn't do anything else. Then the universe is rewritten because the mission you had fails AGAIN, but this time, literally no one has ever heard of her existence except you. And to follow it up, during a rare chance to see your real love, you find she lowkey regrets the choice she made when she left all over again and would wish to stay with you. Finally, you find out that the entire reason you're alive to even have little bit of light again is because they want to exploit the reason for your whole existence. You'd never let Madoka go again, fam.

Lemonkatze

kyubee starting to feel regret lol

J Man

Mami vs. Homura is one of my favorite anime fight scenes of all time. Homura was raw when she decided to shoot a bullet through her skull to break Mami's ribbon (because they can always regenerate physical damage, only way you can kill them is by destroying their soul gem) 💎

Sarkicsinner

homura did nothing wrong yuri is pure

Kisuke01

I always think of Cardcaptor Sakura after watching this show with y'all. I haven't had this much enjoyment watching a gun fight since Odasaku vs Guide

J Man

Y'all need to check out Kamen Rider Gaim. It's Madoka Magica with power rangers. More episodes. And done by the same writer

Eliana

That montage of Homura walking and shedding her meek appearance is so badass every time I see it 😩😂💯

Hans Wurst

That gun battle between Mami and Homura still remains one of the most impressive fight scenes in anime I've ever seen.

Razor4884

This movie is just so good. Homura is a real one.

Shiloh Heath

The ending kinda reminds me of future diary.

flood

I love Kyubey finally feeling emotion at the end lol

Bria A.

Don’t clap me too hard if this is insanely obvious, but it’s called Rebellion because it draws a parallel to the rebellion of Lucifer (ultimately a disagreement in principles and love) that turned him into Satan. Please don’t quote bible verses at me lmao. Sigh. My baby girl.

J Man

LOL... Lupa actually nailed the meaning of the opening... "please listen!!". This what happened when y'all's watch too many animes

marr_xD

1:52:23 LMFAOOO she walked up to this nigga and emoted on him this shit has me tearing up for no reason.

Alex Campbell

Homura purposely told kyubey about the witch cycle in the last episode knowing they could pull something like this and she could take advantage of it. Plus the seeds alter your personality too

MrGaldor123

Maybe they figure it out later in the reaction, but Mami, Kyouko and Homura are all alive at the end of episode 12, in Madoka's new universe. Mami and Kyouko were killed by a witch. Witches don't exist anymore, so they are alive again.

Yehaen

Homura did nothing wrong

PetersThimble

It’s pretty obvious that Homura is in love with Madoka romantically and it’s more than friendship. I honestly love Homura’s “I’ll sacrifice this world for YOU” versus Madoka’s “I’ll sacrifice MYSELF to save the world”. I don’t see Homura as a villain, just an antagonist with a different perspective bc of it Hopeful that in the continuation they resolve it in a way where everyone can benefit

JohnnySmoke

Maybe one day we finna get the Gurren Lagann 2nd movie reaction 🫡

flood

I don't think Homura planned it, though that's definitely how Kyubey came up with his plan.

Ougi

Homura calls herself evil but she don't mean it in a literal sense. She means it as a being who would defy God (madoka) is classed as 'evil' or a demon. Her rebellion against God is what makes her "a devil" and "evil", not her actions/intentions.

Goofyaah

1. At the end of the series Homura told kyubey about the past events and how there were things called witches so it’s actually her fault that this current kyubey made basically looped back into making witches (the best thing to do would’ve been to keep quiet and just wait for madoka to kill her and the series would’ve ended). Basically if Homura kept her mouth shut then everything would’ve been fine bc she gave the idea to him so u can’t really blame kyubey for that 2. The ‘cycle’ being continued that ur referring to at 1:55:58 is linked to my first point but to clear up, it wouldn’t be an endless cycle and Homura only “did shit her way this time” bc she’s selfish and wanted 2 things, Madoka to be alive so she can interact with her and so that Madoka wouldn’t feel sad for leaving everyone by becoming a god. And yes, she was supposed to die in her grief seed and accepted it but after seeing god madoka coming to her she decided on her new ‘imma become a devil’ plan. 3. When Homura asked for more tea to get Mami out of the room Mami looked at the cups (u would assume that when someone asks for more of anything it means they finished but seeing that it wasn’t empty it alerted her that something was off so she used her ribbon). 4. The splotches on the peoples face was to signify and foreshadow that they weren’t invited into Homura’s labyrinth 5. It is implied that sayaka and kyouko like each other in THAT way by their interactions and how blush and hold gold hands in their conversation about how sayaka had 1 regret 6. A cool thing to remember is that during the mami/homura fight homura shot herself in the head (mami thought she was committed self deletion) but in the orignal series kyubey said that as long as their soul gem is fine they can heal basically any wound and since Homura is the only person that would know that she took advantage of that, unfortunately Mami smart and used a ribbon clone but yh. There’s waaaaay too much more to talk about when it comes to this movie which is a testament to how INCREDIBLE and well thought out this entire show was, not to mention even the trailer for Part 2 of the movie where there’s a lot of depth and analysis u can make. Overall Madoka Magica is goated and slept on bc it has magical girls, you guys are really cool and understood a good great amount on your first watch (nobody is expected to get 100% on a test the first time they take it if u get what I mean), can’t wait for Part 2 and other commenters to mention stuff I didn’t here.

Freeofgreed

Why roshi got butt plugs on the mind? 🤣 what you and Sheera be doing? 😏

Kyubey Did Everything Wrong

PyroPhoenix

The cycle wouldnt have continued because remember Madoka takes the soul of Magical Girls away when they are about to turn into witches. Even if Kyubei wanted to farm their emotions again, he cant anymore because Madoka’s wish is in effect and he can’t overwrite that unless someone else with as much power as madoka wishes for that. Homura became a witch some time after that last fight we saw where her soul gem was getting dark. Kyubei contained her because he was curious to see how the “law of the cycle” (aka Madoka) worked because he had no idea how Magical Girls vanished when they got tainted. Only Homira knew that but he never told him EXACTLY how it works. After seeing that Magical Girls becomes witches, that is when he got the idea “oh damn yall releasing hella energy we could be harnessing” but obviously they cant in Madokaverse because Madoka takes them away. They could only harness the energy if they contain the witches and make the witches die inside the containment (which is why it would have been bad if they killed Homura inside her labyrinth, after they had killed her Kyubei would have once again been able to consume the dark gem and harness energy) Homura is smart, she said she wanted to die inside her labyrinth knowing the others wouldn’t allow that and set her free so Madoka can come take her soul away and become part of Madoka forever(that’s why Kyubei was confused as to why she would want to die inside, she would never get to spent the rest of eternity with Madoka) (that’s also why Sayaka and Bebe were with Madoka. In this universe, all the magical girls souls just become part of Madoka as she goes around gathering their souls so they dont become witches when their gem gets too dark). Kyubei be hating hate but they just trynna survive 😂 if us Humans came to a point where we needed a way to harness crazy amounts of energy and we could travel to a different planet with a way to gather energy from the things living in it, I bet you we wouldn’t hesitate to do it even if it means that those living beings die. We wouldnt give a shit either 😂

Bryan

Not sure if anyone has ever mentioned Bebe story but its a fairly sad one. In the anime we see that her labrinth takes place in a hospital, that was because her mom was a patient there for god knows how long. Her being a fairly young girl didnt really understand things around her and her mother so everyday after school she would go visit her and bring her a cheesecake since it was her favorite snack she was thinking it would also cheer her mother up. It kept happening until one day she met kyuubei who offered her a wish. Bebe being excited about having a way to save her mom rushed to the hospital to tell her mom she had a way hoping to finally be praised by her. Instead her mom lashed out at her for what she described as idiocy. So with her emotions crushed by her pretty much saying she never loved her made the wish for the most delicious cheesecake. As soon as the wish happened she auto became a witch, which leads to her labrinth being formed.

Harmonial

Bebe’s doll form is so cute

Harmonial

I’m a little lost. Can someone explain in full details what exactly homura did?

Eric Stormbringer

Mami is raw as hell. Her guns only fire 1 shot at a time and the fact that she was keeping up with Homura's arsenal of modern-day weaponry (including automatic weapons) is insane. No to mention she was accurate enough to intercept Homura's bullets after they were fired. The fact that she's smart enough to counter time-stop (both out of combat and in combat with the ribbon clone) just further cements this. Really wish she hadn't let her guard down in episode 3 and we got to see more of her.

13

She became a witch/demon with as much if not more power than Madoka. Homura at the end made a new reality for all her friends to live, while splitting Madoka in two. Her Goddess form, and her human form who's memories have been altered

2023-11-24 03:25:01 I've been seeing a lot of people confused about the ending so here is my full interpretation of what happened. HEAVY SPOILERS AHEAD- DO NOT READ BEFORE YOU WATCH THE REACTION. To understand what Homura did- you have to understand Madoka's wish. At the end of the series Madoka made a wish to prevent all witches from being born by her own hand in all times and all universes. What this means is that right when a magical girl would become a witch, Madoka would appear and take their despair- allowing them to die peacefully instead of becoming witches. It's also implied that Madoka then takes the souls of the magical girls to her own afterlife (hence why she was able to send back Sayaka and Bebe to help her get Homura). Anyway, this wish when granted means that Madoka has to exist in all times in all universes which effectively made her a God. However, in order to have her wish come true she would also need to kill her own witch form- a paradox. In order for this to work the universe was re-written so that Madoka's human existence would never exist and never could exist (hence why no one but Homura remembers her). She instead became a concept that the magical girls call "The Law of the Cycle". The universe then channels all the evils that used to be witches into wraiths which is what the girls used to fight in Madoka's new universe. Homura explains the concepts of witches and wraiths to the Kyubeys at the end of the series and that leads to the events in the movie. The Kyubeys after hearing what Homura told them wanted to verify if it was true. Thus, they created the isolation field which would separate the soul gem from the universe- meaning that "The Law of Cycles" couldn't interfere. They then waited for the moment when Homura would become a witch and then trapped her soul gem in the isolation field. With the isolation field preventing Madoka from stopping it, Homura began transforming into a witch. She created a Labyrinth of an idealized version of Mitakihara city therefore confirming to the Kyubeys that magical girls do become witches without the influence of "The Law of the Cycles" as well as the extreme energy produced. So then Kyubey's were like oh snap- if we can identify "The Law of Cycles" we can research it, control it and then circumvent it allowing them to once again create witches and harness the energy from them. The Kyubey's then altered the isolation field to let in people who Homura subconsciously had a connection to. Those people ended up being the magical girls, Madoka's family, Kyosuke and Hitomi, the teacher and the poor random dude who always raises his hand in class (lol). She also subconsciously invited Madoka of course. However, in order to enter the Labyrinth Madoka would have to stop being a concept and become a human. Madoka being a God and seeing that Kyubey was up to shenanigans- created a contingency plan where she would bring in Sayaka and Bebe with her and have them hold onto her memories and powers for when she needed it. So then Madoka became a human and was able to enter Homura's labyrinth. However, as a human she was subject to the memory rewriting that Homura did. As a result- the Kyubeys only got half of what they wanted- they were able to identify Madoka as the "Law of the Cycles" (since Madoka as a person didn't exist in the universe but here she was in the Labyrinth) however, since she didn't have any godlike powers because she was human again, they couldn't interfere with "The Law of Cycles" which was the whole point of all they did. So, they decided to observe hoping that Madoka would slip up and use her powers so their plan could be fully fulfilled. When Homura began to learn the truth, it started to cause the idealized world of her Labyrinth to become unstable. The Kyubeys seeing that, realized that their plan of passively observing was effectively over and told Homura the truth- hoping that she would do the logical thing and call for Madoka to save her- forcing Madoka to use her godlike powers and thus exposing the "Law of the Cycle" for them to manipulate. However, Homura said screw you I would prefer to die without being saved and turned herself into a full witch- counting on the other Magical girls to kill her- effectively damning herself to death/despair but thwarting the Kyubey's plans because Madoka wouldn't expose herself to them. Luckily Madoka had anticipated this before she went into the Labyrinth and so Sayaka and Bebe(who have Madoka's memories and thus would know her plan even though she herself wouldn't remember it) led the other magical girls to break the isolation field instead of killing Homura. They are successful and they wipe out the Kyubeys at the same time so they wouldn't be able to observe Madoka's power. With the isolation field broken, the Kyubey's unable to observe and with her full powers and memories back- Madoka as "The Law of Cycles" comes to take Homura away and lead her to the afterlife. This is where Homura decides to enact her plan (It's left ambiguous if this is what Homura intended all along or if this was just the plan after her dying as a witch failed). Earlier in the movie Homura confessed to Madoka (who didn't have her memories) what had happened in the series. Madoka told Homura that she would never want to be separated from her friends and family and would never want or be able to make that sacrifice. Homura interpreted that as Madoka's true feelings and concluded that she had made a mistake by not stopping Madoka from making her sacrifice. Thus, when the opportunity presented itself- she splits Madoka the person from her power as "The Law of Cycles." This causes the universe to be rewritten because it defies Madoka's original wish to prevent witches via her own hand. Since Madoka's selfless sacrifice in the original series is the ultimate "good" (the entire Christain religion is based on a similar premise- that Jesus dying to forgive our sins was the ultimate good) - Homura's selfish negation of that wish is the ultimate "evil"- hence why she becomes a demon and the personification of said "evil". Homura then further rewrites the universe so that Madoka can live a happy life and the Kyubeys would be the ones who have to bear the world's curses. The end of the movie illustrates that Homura's rewrite isn't perfect- Madoka still has the potential to access her godlike powers only barely being suppressed by Homura. Homura realizes that it's only a matter of time before Madoka figures out the truth and then they'll be enemies because of their diametrically opposing ideologies- hence setting up a future confrontation.

Homura realizes that it's only a matter of time before Madoka figures out the truth and then they'll be enemies because of their diametrically opposing ideologies- hence setting up a future confrontation.

I've been seeing a lot of people confused about the ending so here is my full interpretation of what happened. Thus, they created the isolation field which would separate the soul gem from the universe- meaning that "The Law of the Cycle" couldn't interfere. They then waited for the moment when Homura would become a witch and then trapped her soul gem in the isolation field. With the isolation field preventing Madoka from stopping it, Homura began transforming into a witch. She created a Labyrinth of an idealized version of Mitakihara city therefore confirming to the Kyubeys that magical girls do become witches without the influence of "The Law of the Cycle" as well as the extreme energy produced. So then Kyubey's were like oh snap- if we can identify "The Law of the Cycle" we can research it, control it and then circumvent it allowing them to once again create witches and harness the energy from them. As a result- the Kyubeys only got half of what they wanted- they were able to identify Madoka as the "The Law of the Cycle" (since Madoka as a person didn't exist in the universe but here she was in the Labyrinth) however, since she didn't have any godlike powers because she was human again, they couldn't interfere with "The Law of the Cycle" which was the whole point of all they did. So, they decided to observe hoping that Madoka would slip up and use her powers so their plan could be fully fulfilled. When Homura began to learn the truth, it started to cause the idealized world of her Labyrinth to become unstable. The Kyubeys seeing that, realized that their plan of passively observing was effectively over and told Homura the truth- hoping that she would do the logical thing and call for Madoka to save her- forcing Madoka to use her godlike powers and thus exposing "The Law of the Cycle" for them to manipulate. With the isolation field broken, the Kyubey's unable to observe and with her full powers and memories back- Madoka as "The Law of the Cycle" comes to take Homura away and lead her to the afterlife. Thus, when the opportunity presented itself- she splits Madoka the person from her power as "The Law of the Cycle." This causes the universe to be rewritten because it defies Madoka's original wish to prevent witches via her own hand.

No one got the time to read any of this. No need for the spoiler warning LOL

you would be surprised how many people get SO upset when you point out that this could've been avoided if Homura kept her damn mouth shut 😭 bc it's TRUE, Kyuubey literally says "hey wasn't this the witch magic you were talking about? we decided to experiment and you were right. thanks!" Prior to this, the incubators didn't question why their soul gems disappeared for the previous 2000+ years in the new timeline, they didn't have a reason to investigate bc it was a LAW of the universe they didn't even know could be defied until Homu slipped. I love the girl but damn, that was on her.

I've watched this like 3 times since you guys uploaded, thank you for the food!!❤️ You guys picked up on so much detail that's easy to gloss over during the first watch, it made the reaction so much more pleasant and exciting seeing y'all put the pieces together along the way. It's also amazing to see how many other commenters here are breaking down the movie (and Madokaverse related media) in detail, I LOVE reading others' thoughts and descriptions of such a beautiful show, especially for first-time watchers. Thanks and stay safe y'all!!💖

Incubators don't be evil challenge 😂

the story is a bit confusing at times, but from a graphic designer perspective, and I'm sure Roshi can agree, this movie is an absolute chefs kiss.

Figured out that this is Homura’s fault somehow when Sayaka asked who benefits from this. Like she said, she’s be the only one capable of even wanting Madoka back. I should have goddamn known it was Kyuubey at the same time. The lack of presence he had smokescreened me.

Prinnigan

That was hella insightful. Do you think then that the series might end in some morally grey purgatory for everyone where it’s not a selfless death or selfish wish that happens but some compromise between the two where Madoka and Akane may have to kill witches forever as penance on behalf of all the other magical girls? Because they’ve already explored a good and evil end, just not a neutral one.

I can't believe the real one trapped by the four album deal was Kyubey.

I have no clue where they will go from here which is why the next movie is so exciting. I'm hoping for some kind of reconciliation but who knows what'll happen!

If only Homura wasn’t such a yapper then everyone could’ve found salvation and been happy, she even would’ve got to see madoka right before her transformation would stop and see her in magical girl heaven. SMH Homura, we love her but she’s the cause of everything…even the main storyline since she went back over and over again.

Christian

thank you for explaining this, i was a bit lost. but why did they zoom in on kyubey like that at the end?

The tickets for this movie was wild. It was a picture of Mami and where you tore the ticket was where her head was bit off.

That scene to me was an illustration that yeah Kyubeys really are bearing the brunt of curses in the world, and they are not handling it well. However, I think Homura is playing with fire by using them like that. They are the race who came up with the magical girl system. They can do crazy stuff like pull your soul out of your body, grant wishes etc and they are the species that came up with a plan that allowed them to expose a universal force and were almost successful. I have no doubt they are already plotting some way to deal with Homura and Madoka and it's probably not going to be great.

不死鳥

Idk if yall figured it out at some point but close to the end of the movie I still see you think mami and kyouko should be dead, but as confusing as it is they arent dead in the real world, they died in the old world which got re-written by madoka, in the current one the last thing we see was all of them alive fighting wraiths (the current version of witches post madoka god mode), and sayaka gets taken away by the law of the cycle (aka madoka), so the only person not actually alive in the current world is sayaka and the others are all fine.

Ice

She wouldn't have to plan that. If she'd just died it would've gotten the same result. Madoka would still come try and save her, and she'd still be able to break her wish.

Cody

So this whole scenario is homura's fault for even telling the incubators about madoka and witchs. couldn't just leave it alone had to stay obsessed with madoka. Homura #1 creep

Incubators "We Fucked Around & Found Out!"

I’m starting think at the end, Kyubey was messed up by Homura! He was probably tryna escape or inform someone of the truth. 🤔

When homura was on the bus and it caught fire, that was her trying to kill herself. She was trying to burn herself because she was a witch. The story boarding is sooooo amazing.

seeing this movie in theaters waaaayyy back when it came out was such a crazy experience, because this was my first time seeing an anime movie in theatres and after it was over no one knew what to do, like after the credits rolled it was complete silence in the theatre no one knew wtf just happened on the screen, and we all just walked out looking at each other in shock like this movie was so good, i keep coming back to this reaction and remembering things the nostalgia is real,,, i even still have the freebie shikishi board they gave out w my ticket its got a picture of sayaka and kyouko on it Also the chills seeing the homura vs mami fight on the big screen with the ost blasting, absolutely insane.

The part that's both tragic and oddly pathetic is that Homura turned into a demon based off the desires of a FAKE Madoka. After all, the Madoka in that flower garden scene is a girl that LACKS all of the knowledge, experience and insight of the original series! Homura had become so twisted and jaded with her quests for saving the real Madoka from traps by Kyubey that she no longer knows the Madoka she's SUPPOSED to be fighting for. That's not the definition of love. It's DELUSION!

Interesting that she defines love as something deeper than despair but also brighter than hope. I never thought of love that way so I find it interesting the way Homura described it. but anyway, I honestly don't know what to feel towards Homura's actions towards the end of the movie because on one hand she brought back Madoka and Sayaka, got rid of all the curses by stuffing them into all the kyubeys, took over Madoka's role as a goddess just so that Madoka can be in person with her family/friends again..... but on the other hand she forced her ideals on what she thought Madoka wanted despite not asking her again once Madoka regained her memories of becoming a goddess. Overall she did not respect Madoka's wishes but her heart was in the right place. what I find sad though is that Homura doesn't win at all in this because even though she thinks she saved Madoka by taking her place and letting her live with her family again, she's still just over here in the sidelines just waiting for the day when her and Madoka become enemies despite still wishing for Madoka's happiness and good fortunes her way she even accepted becoming a demon and risked Madoka hating her just so she could save Madoka of her role as a goddess that continually fights witches in every timeline along with saving them for all eternity which also btw is the reason behind Madoka's scarring hand/arm when she reached out to Homura during their fight with Homura's witch. Overall Homura needs a break and a hug along with a long-deserved section of therapy

Milin Martinez

and btw the reason why Mami and Kyouko are alive is that they were both kinda killed by a witch in the old timeline but since Madoka erased all witches they survived in the new timeline where Madoka is a god Sayaka could have lived too but she would have to undo her wish so she chose not to. also fun fact apparently in every timeline Sayaka always ends up becoming a witch which is why Homura told Madoka that Sayaka's fate was inevitable. Homura time-traveled 100 times btw also Homura witch form is ridiculously op. She is the only witch to have over 3 different forms along with the most minions which total 7 different underlings that can rival magical girls which is why u see Sayaka having a hard time fighting one of them you know the dolls with crazy eyes. and Homura's clever diversion when she held the gun to her head which btw Mami didn't know that magical girls could regenerate any body part even if their head got cut off as long as their soul gem was fine which sucked even more for Mami since her soul gem is in a form of a hair ornament which is why she didn't regenerate when her head got crushed. anyway, there's a lot in the movie that would require deciphering/understanding whether it's images, symbols, and actions. there's a lot to say about this movie but I won't because I don't wanna write a whole book. anyway I hope I cleared up some confusion for you guys
