When I initially watched, I wasn't sure by the end of the first episode. But Buggy definitely got me. They definitely got the balance of goofy and actually threatening on point.

About Shank's arm getting bit off, we gotta remember that it happened 10 whole years ago when he first started doing pirate stuff with his own crew. And it wasn't like a 1v1 standoff, it lunged at Luffy and he got in the way. He probably didn't even actually know Haki yet, just used it instinctively. He wasn't always at the level he is now, just like Luffy started out having serious fights with characters like Buggy.

Oda said that Shanks had a bounty of 1 billion when he first met Luffy so he had to have some mastery of haki back then to get that high since he doesn't have a df

If you want the correct answer to why shanks gave up his arm and not all these other people just going off of speculation. Oda himself said that he did not want that scene to happen that way in the manga, because it doesn't make sense, but his EDITORS, not him, convinced him that it would be more emotional if shanks gave something up for luffy as a lesson. So once again, it was not Odas original intent for shanks to lose an arm, it was a suggestion given to him to make it more dramatic and emotional.

I totally get what Roshi is talking about. This show takes itself seriously, but the setting of One Piece is light hearted and sometimes silly. It's ok to have that kind of setting, but the characters can't be winking at the camera all the time and acting like everything is dumb. Buggy will literally kill you. Sure, he's kind of silly in concept, but he's dangerous and never stops being dangerous. If you take your show seriously and let your audience buy in and not feel dumb for caring about the world, it will be a killer show.

I believe the reason Shanks lost an arm was because his first thought was to shield Luffy with his own body, he didn't have time to think, his first instinct was to grab Luffy to shield him and got his arm bitten off. I do think the anime scene was more impactful, because Luffy was hugging Shanks and crying really loudly and Shanks said something like "you are safe now, don't cry" and Luffy says "But Shanks! your arm!" Absolutely legendary scene in the anime.

I 100% agree with the second half of this comment but if we are being even a tiny bit honest. Shanks shouldn't have lost that arm regardless of circumstance based on manga obv. But i like to think he was still fairly new on the sea or something. However if it were the case that was his first thought he literally overrode his own senses to protect luffy at any cost which is just sweet af

Considering how GODA is the king of foreshadowing and had the majority of the story finished when he began i am a firm believer that Shanks used this to inspire/guilt trip Luffy into using "HIS" power since it will be needed, but we can only wait Oda is cooking in the manga right now with the agenda piece

Hey, roshi, lupa-san, and Sherra. I love all of your guys' reactions. I was wondering if guys could consider reacting to "RWBY" It's one of my favorite shows of all time. And for any of the RWBY fans in the comments who are higher-tier patrons let's try to get a poll going that would be amazing. Also, now hear me out but I would also like it if you guys could react to MLP too. It's not a bad show and shows that have as crazy of a fan base as MLP isn't just for show something about the show is good(all of it). But that's just me putting my thoughts out there.
