I dunno…. With an anime with crazy plot twists, it is common to use past suspects as the main villain. Like, he could’ve gotten the wrong cigarettes checked and think he is in the clear but then at the end climax of the movie, he actually turns out to be the dad ☠️

After episode two I got invested and read the entire manga that is out so far. To clarify this is not a spoiler, the reason he knew which cigarettes to pick out was the guy was smoking a specific type in the manga it just cut the little detail out. The ones he got were smoked by the potential father.

Seeing that scene of the manga author with that look of despair over her story being turned into trash just makes you wonder how many other authors felt this way when some anime/shows decided to stray from the original content and create their own version of the story.
