Olmar is dumb as hell

Kami_Psy

lol thought the title was talking about Olimar from Pikmin for a sec and was like "What!?".

Devin B

I can understand dude not wanting to go to Ketil's farm for Leif cause if they waste their time going there they are going to be assed out when Winter come and they can barely travel by sea.

Theo Vorster

For those who are interested in reading along with the manga, this episode adapted the entirety of chapters 75-76 (the last five pages of chapter 73 and all of chapter 74 appear to be getting rearranged in when/where the anime will adapt them). Wulf, the Captain of the Guard (also known by the Norse term “Head Thegn” in the manga) that Canute spars with, is likely based on the real-life Ulf Thorgilsson, commonly known as Ulf Jarl. Who in real-life ended up becoming Canute’s brother-in-law by way of marriage to Canute’s sister Estrid (who we see at the beginning of this episode as well). And yeah Canute is interested in using Olmar (who is basically the Viking Age version of the “Yankii” character archetype) as a scapegoat in some manner in order for the monarchy to be “justified” in appropriating Ketil’s farmlands.

Jigga Man

Canute just taxing the rich man, let that man cook.

Sheldon Lewis

If Canute wanted to, he could basically spread propaganda about Ketils farm, revealing that Harald was poisoned and it was by the people of Ketil. Since a lot of the produce came from there, the public will just believe it. From there, Canute can justify all his actions to take that land by force. Or he could coerce and bribe Ketil's son to act as the new leader and sell his dad's land, property, and his people's freedom to Canute. Either way, you're screwed.

Aaron Gauntt

Honestly I wouldn't have even taken Olmar to a meeting as important as an audience with the king. Tie his ass to the mast of one of your boats while you handle business

Aaron Gauntt

I'm guessing Canute plans to butter up Olman to get him to backstab his dad and 'give' the farm to Canute so he doesn't look like an ass for just taking it

Void Zero

Farmland saga beef begins!!!

Joshua

I don't know what is gonna happen, but I took Canute's plan as them killing ketil and then making his son the "master" of the farm. They can use and manipulate him cause he's an idiot.

2023-03-24 07:05:02 The most wild thing is we actually got to see Olmar's humiliation in the anime. In the manga, all we knew is he lost to a pig, I atleast thought it was...y'know..alive? So I started laughing hysterically when they brought out the roast pig. Never let him cook.

I assumed he was gonna be used as a hostage/bargaining chip but that works too.

Theo Vorster

What? No, the manga depicts this exact same scene of Olmar failing to cut the roast pig in chapter 76.

I swear to god, if this is gonna be like another Game of Thrones, with characters trying to find each other and just barely missing each other for seasons, I'm gonna lose it. Leif's been looking for Thorfinn for over a decade at this point. Thorfinn just recently was able to genuinely smile again. Give these men a W. At least before they get dragged back into the war again by Canute's plans.

I think since they are talking about "hmm, we haven't done the Coronation yet, might use this opportunity", they prolly plan to tell him "aight you know what, I'll let you in if you attempt to fake assassinate me during the Coronation", then after that happens, his entire family is now guilty of Treason, where traditional penalty is execution & forfeiture of all property to the State

Kenisha & Kim

Yo thorfinn gonna be fighting Canute or something like how is he gonna be peaceful with him 💀💀💀yo or they can go the route of thorfinn changing Canute for the better and they can just live in peace

KeYo

looks like farmland saga is ending and hands saga is approaching for thornfinn

Daniel Robb

Thorgill said the more cowardly a man acts, the less predictable he is, Canute said the opposite. I wonder which one of them is right.

Pucki

vinland saga may be one of the best manga to anime adaptations i have seen. Mappa is doing an amazing job

Pucki

btw leif buying the other thorfinn also makes more sense than leif itself realized it, if he hadnt chances would have been high to find the wrong thorfinn again since he fits his description and has the same name

Twin Hallow

The plan was instead of raising taxes and having everyone mad at you. Take some farms and have only those owners mad at you.

kt

If Canute kill Omar's father and brother then accept him into his army, Omar would be directly serving Canute and he would be the one making decisions on the farm

BornUnMotivated

I think there gonna set olmar up and have the dad suffer for it

LA

If they only deliver the produce from farm and it’s poisoned how would they know which to poison? If they don’t directly give it to him since the others including sister and soldiers and people of his land eat that food as well and king has people that deliver the food too so it goes through many hands.

Tyrese Marshall

already a 9/10 with Wit, but now maybe its because the Slave Arc is 10x better than the prologue, but Mappa have made s2 a 10/10 show

Godrick

imagine Russia successfully invaded the US, and all our taxes went to maintaining their army occupation. They basically said "Canute got the English bankrolling their oppressors"

L1NG

couldn't work out why canute sounded so familiar in season 2 and its cause hes also flochs va

Drake Rage

god damn piece of shit Olmar! When we were finally about to get some happy shit to happen, meeting Leif, Leif finding out about Thorfinn and wanting to meet him, Thorfinn about to get freedom... all of it going to go down the drain T_T Also I think they showed us Lief finding a slave boy who looked almost exactly like Thorfinn many years ago, so this means he ended up taking him and raising him as his own son, so its not random.

Sheldon Lewis

True lol I thought that after I wrote it. I was making the kings reasoning more elaborate than it needed to be. It was more of an example of how Ketil could really be blamed for anything to justify Canute going over to Ketil's farm. Ketil's son could be framed for Poisoning, framed for murder, framed for theft, framed for disrespecting the king, etc.

Precious

ohhhhhh he sounded wayyy to familiar,, i thought he was sauske lol
