I think the reason why we might never get a season 3 could be because of the "antisemitic"/anti-Zionist aspect to the portrayal of the character Matal Mogamett. The Jewish community usually gets very agressive when caricatures of their anti-goy segregationism get so public. I remember finding a few articles online back in the day stating that this anime was promoting hatred towards Jews. Wouldn't be surprised if this show got cancelled after that.

Japan is mostly immune to cancelling, that's because anime is mostly targeted towards Japanese audience, global markets are only secondary, The main reason why we won't have an actual season 3, is because there really isn't enough material for it. I've read the manga until the end and we're actually pretty close to the end already. Kinda like how maid-sama, where there is only like a few chapters left in the manga that they couldn't really justify making an entire anime just for a couple of episodes.

This isn't even close to being true. There are 3 large arcs after this one. There's enough material for atleast 2 more seasons.

I highly doubt that's the case. Japan doesn't care what the international community thinks of it's shows. AOT also has jewish analogues and it's been received extremely well. The sad answer is there just wasn't a strong enough will from the studio to do a 3rd season.

Have you actually read the manga? Season 2 is nowhere near the end, halfway is debatable. The manga had a whole timeskip. They definitely have the material, the story just went into a more political direction then previously, which general audiences might not have liked, unfortunately.
