The gun devil didn’t kill that many people with one shot. A bunch of people pointed this out last episode, but it rampaged across the world spending seconds at various places. What destroyed aki’s home was probably just the speed of it passing by, since it didn’t really look like a bullet hit the house.

A detail I thought was pretty sick was hot Himeno has been chill as hell and even suggestive/ a little lewd this whole time. Up until the moment Aki is hurt and then boom she starts breaking down and is crying a bit and voice raised. Himeno seems like a veteran so it really shows just how much she loves Aki (in a non romantic way) for her to go from "oh I don't care. Aki will get us out!" to " Aki, Aki, Aki are you okay???!". I think it's a bit of a subtle detail but shows how much she's bonded with Aki over how many years they were together. Plus in the flashbacks Aki's hair is short and her's is long, but now Aki has a top knot and shoulder length hair and she has short cut hair.

All those who hate Kobeni and who continue to say that she is useless, I would like to see you in that situation where there is no more food, time is frozen and therefore no one can come and save you and in addition there is a monster that feed on your fear. I would really like to know how you would behave. Kobeni is simply a girl who was forced by her parents to choose whether to be a sex worker or become a devil hunter, and yet she continues to have to give her brother her money in order to allow him to go to college, even though she too would like to go at college. Her reaction is that of any normal person, and if you think you can not be afraid in that situation, then you think you are the main character. I don't disagree but it's worth keeping in mind that those shows...are at their finales, whereas CSM is literally just starting. For my own two cents (manga reader) I thought CSM was pretty mid at the start and only started to enjoy it more in the arc that will come next and (probably?) end season 1. From there it only gets better each arc IMO which is why it started to build such a fanbase. I think a lot of people forgot that it does spend some time just setting things up at the start.

@Chinese Cartoons - Since you're a manga reader, I have a question. Without spoiling anything, in your opinion, how faithful of an adaptation has the Chainsaw Man anime been so far? The pacing feels a bit slow when compared to other anime this season, but I don't think that's a bad thing. If the story is good and I'm entertained, that's what matters (aka: there doesn't have to be a fight every episode to satisfy me). However, I recently learned that the anime has skipped / omitted stuff from the manga. Most anime adaptations do this (especially during the first season), so I shouldn't be surprised, but the pacing made me think it was the opposite. Like the scene of peace and tranquility in Aki's apartment before Power moved in. I didn't have a problem with that, but I know some people would call that "filler" regardless of whether it's in the manga. Anyways, I'm loving the anime so far, and I can't wait for next week!!

@Merfhew I think it's been a phenomenal adaptation so far. The only stuff that's been cut is very minor. There was a small scene when they get Udon in Ep2 where Denji meets another devil and at least IMO it's kinda weird, has no major impact elsewhere and the anime dropped the same info in a better way. There is some flavor stuff like giving a more specific breakdown of the Gun Devil's massacre (in the manga is shows how many people died in a bunch of countries) but it's not exactly same major plot point so I don't care with how good everything else has been. The stuff they've added like Aki's morning routine is all stuff that I love so far. The pacing is hard for me to judge as obviously I'm really anticipating the upcoming stuff a lot more than these episodes, since I didn't care for them that much in the manga. It's difficult for me to separate my own anticipation versus watching the rate at which things actually are being adapted. At the end of the day I'm loving the anime and all of the anime-only reactors I'm watching seem to be really loving it so the studio must be doing something right, you know?

*sigh* People comparing Chainsaw Man to long running successful adaptations like My Hero Academia or (the miraculously revived Big Three member) Bleach or even Mob Psycho 100 just aren’t being fair. We are only six episodes into this damn show. Six. Without getting into spoilers, it’s clear there has already been a lot of information given, an introduction to the unique world, and a build up of larger overarching plot threads (Denji and his not-quite-understood desire for intimacy, the Gun Devil, etc). That and we’ve gotten something most adaptations skimp on this early in the series and that’s atmosphere. The look and feel and mood in Chainsaw Man is supreme, the animation/cinematography and editing breath life and add weight into each sentimental or harrowing moment. All that, plus we’ve already gotten some INCREDIBLE action sequences / fights, there is just no arguing that. Now do we have the richest connection to or deepest understanding of all the characters? No. Chainsaw Man is a narrative slow burn, after all, despite its insane pacing and crazy premise. But we DO have some pretty good insight into the incredibly unique (and stunted) person that Denji is, what makes Aki tick and perhaps what type of person he truly is despite that, and we’re all curious as hell about the mystery of Makima. Some people even already love Power at this point, lmao! These are all solid accomplishments by EPISODE SIX. Rewatch Naruto or Bleach or even Mob Psycho, and Chainsaw Man is holding its own pretty damn well. Hell, I like Jujutsu Kaisen as much as the next guy (and season 2 is really gonna go to some great places), but I genuinely think Chainsaw Man’s characters have instantly reeled me in whereas it took a while with JK’s cast. That’s some writing / creative magic, right there. All in all, I get this shit was overhyped into oblivion. I get that if you didn’t read the manga, you probably got tired of all the attention the show got even *before* it was released. I get that assholes are everywhere for this particular series and are spoiling everything left and right. And I get that all leads into some (perhaps subconscious) bad faith reactions to the trendy show. If it’s not your cup of tea, that’s totally fine. But try to be fair about the comparisons, at least. It is by no means a ‘bad show’ lmao

It spawned in amarica after there universes version of 9/11 happend and the gun devil was in amarcia for 124 seconds and it killed 500,000 people. Then it flew its ass all the way over to china where it stayed for 37 seconds killing 300,000 people bro then flew back to canada where it stayed for 7 seconds killing 8,000 people, then it flew all the way over to the soviet union for 210 seconds killing 150,000 people. I think they were aiming for more emotional impact with Aki's flashback since originally Makima would be narrating over a part of it to explain that stuff, which works a bit better when it's written out. I do hope they put those details into the anime though and I feel like they may have been able to squeeze it into a slightly different part of the episode in some way so my feelings on that are a bit mixed
