Again, they don’t utilize computers or cellphones a lot in the show because the manga was written in the 1980s. And there’s this extra chapter in the manga that gives insight on Ash and Blanca’s history together and it shows that their relationship is more complex

Ash pulling the trigger on himself with no hesitation will always break my heart because, as a protagonist, he has no self-serving ambitions or dreams. He doesn't see a future for himself where he's completely cut off from violence and destruction. That's why this scene doesn't just prove his loyalty to Eiji but also emphasizes how tenuous his connection to living really is. He's said numerous times throughout the show that he doesn't fear death, in fact, he describes it as "sweet" and "enticing". So, for Ash, who sees himself as a monster, making this sacrifice for Eiji, the only "pure" and "good" thing in his life, is something he doesn't even need to think twice about. And that is what Yut Lung doesn't understand. Despite their upbringings being somewhat similar, Yut Lung's trauma has made him the exact opposite of Ash. He ONLY cares about himself and his ambitions. He doesn't understand what it means to be self-sacrificing. In their world of constant deception, greed, and violence, he can't fathom how anyone could put someone else's life over their own. Which is, in a way, just as sad as Ash not knowing how to value himself at all.

3:34 In the manga Eiji's english is pretty bad, so he actually sounds like a kid to a lot of people. They couldn't showcase this well in the anime so instead they made his character appear younger and more innocent/childlike to keep the same vibe.

7:14 the point of him saying Eiji's full name was to highlight that they now know his identity. It doesn't matter now if they send him back, he'll still be an open target.
