The play is actually inspired by an old Japanese fairy tail called Momotaro. It's about a boy born in a peach found by an old couple. A lot of anime refer to tis tale.

I remember when I first watched this, I was upset that they were giving the principal a back story. He pissed me off so much that I didn't care to see it. Then I saw what happened and was like "Damn...so that's why he acts the way he does". Then I didn't really hate him anymore.

Fun Fact: The play was based on a Japanese folktale called Momotaro. Momotaro was born from a peach and enlists the help of a Dog, a Monkey and a Pheasant to help him defeat the demons on Onigashima (literally 'demon island'). This is also one of the folktales that inspired some one piece characters (Momonosuke, Onigashima, Aokiji Akainu and Kizaru which respectfully mean Blue pheasant, Red Dog and Yellow Monkey).

Idk, I was always thrown off by how abruptly they tried to explain his behavior. They hinted at it, sure, but it felt like the author just got tired of him so he decided to put a nice little bow on that plotline. Sort of like a Night King in GoT S8 situation
