Bro same. My entire high school romance situation was me being best friends with this short, violent brunette who had only one other friend and a bad reputation with the rest of the school due to temperament. We went through the whole "our external friends thought we were dating" situation which was a problem since I was longtime crushing on this sporty yet kinda hiddenly depressed girl and she was trying to help me get with her. In the process, at the end of it all we had developed feelings for each other and started going out. And then I saw this anime and am still unable to watch it without just laughing at how similar the situation was

bro thats wild, I actually had a crush on this one girl who was kinda ditzy, literally would take her pet with her everywhere. It was cute but even it got more attention from my crush than me. Even though I made it super obvious I was into my crush I don't think it ever clicked. And meanwhile her friend, was making it super obvious she was the one that was into me. It was tough turning her down she was sweet and even understood that I liked my crush more when I told her. Eventually, my crush and I did end up kissing, though it was kinda weird cause she was only into it after I shit talked her. Anyway, I got transported to another world and am trying to help her win a royal selection now.

That thing Ami said about Ryuuji not being able to hit Minori was about how in the scene before after Ami told Ryuuji she lied about being lost and he started hitting her on her arm. Ami said Ryuuji wouldn't do that to Minori basically because he doesn't truly act like himself when he's around her because he idolize her but with Ami he can act however he wants hence why she called each other equals cause they can be themselves with each other.

Usually in these types of shows, "main girl" is "best girl" but Ami shows why her character is important not just to the dynamic of the show but to Ryuuji as well.

On the surface you would've never thought this series would have such good dialogue..I like how shera pointed out about Ami being "the balance" in the friend group . Roshi def gonna change his opinion by the end

I feel like so many people miss the whole "ghosts" and "UFO" dialogue and it's analogous to her wanting to find love but doesn't believe she can. It's pretty on the nose, so I'm surprised so many people miss it.

The version we see usually isn't the version they're watching. That's why sometimes they'll comment on some of the dialogue and it'll be different from what's on our screen, while still having the same meaning.

yeah but I'm pretty sure it is cuz with the hitting sentence it left out "on the wrist" and roshi and sheera even said just hitting, same with last episode when dude dropped his towel they made a mention how minori said she saw something black hence the whole thing with roshi saying bbc where she really says "black and bushy or bush-like" can't remember. But roshi didn't say anything about her saying bushy so we can only presume the lines they are reading are the ones we are too. It's not a big deal just found it interesting is all, but it clearly has lead to some confusion like why Ami said ryuji couldn't hit minori

I think Minorin is aware of Ryuji's feelings. She's just a clown, so she legitimately has no idea how to respond to someone who keeps trying to have serious moments with her. But the more she's alone with Ryuji, the more she's starting to realize she doesn't dislike it. Like she said at the end, she's learning more about herself by being around him. Now she's kind of toying with the idea that maybe something could work out between them, but isn't in love with him yet. So yeah. "She's just seeing where it goes" is a pretty accurate analysis.

I'm really late to this, but in my opinion, realistically speaking, ami is the best fit to Ryuuji. 1.) When you think about it, Taiga is incredibly unreasonable, selfish and violent. Yes she's really cute and dere sometimes. She's cute but thats only because they're young, but when they're older, having a wife that verbally abuses you and beats you up, thats gonna be hell. All I see in their future is divorce. 2.) Minori, like Ami said, is the sun. She's the dreamer type. the only way to be equals with her is to have the same personality (which Ryujji obviously isn't) or to be rich enough to be able to afford to support and accompany her with all her endeavors. I can see Minorin backpacking and going around the world exploring new things. Takasu who is more likely to end up going for a stable job and can't afford to go around trips with her means their relationship probably not gonna work. 3.) Ami is probably the most realistic choice, because one, she's not violent. Yea she teases Ryuuji a lot (kinda hot ngl) but he is patient and understanding enough to be able to deal with it, its not the same as Taiga's verbal and physical abuse. Yea she has a bad personality but that's only against people who isnt friendly with her like taiga. She doesn't go out of her way to treat people like shit, (like her classmates for example). Her attitude towards Ryuuji isn't really bad either. A non showbiz partner is also a good fit to a showbiz type person like Ami, as far as I've observed there are less issues with celebs with non celeb partners. Since she's a celeb Takasu probably wont have any problems supporting her. In fact I can actually see Ami being out there working as an actress, while Ryuuji being a stay at home dad since he likes housework so much.
