Honestly if I were Dr. Strange, I would have gone the infinity stone route. I feel like if the infinity stones can erase half of all life in existence, and then they could also resurrect a single person. Not to mention that Dr. Strange did what he did with just one infinity stone, so having all of them should make it easier.

In the comics, at least, the Watchers archive everything they see into a crystal ball for the sake of preserving all the knowledge in the universe. (and the comic versions usually do interfere in universe-ending scenarios, but it depends on what kind of mood they're in)

TBH, Dr. Strange’s monster form is pretty epic, aside from the face, which is an optometrist’s and dentist’s nightmare. But otherwise it looks like some cool cosmic being from the Lovecraftian Mythos.
