ok yall, I know the subs dont 100% match the english dub (couldnt find a version that did) and a lot of you are saying its distracting. I can turn them off for future episodes if you want just let me know!

It was only episode 6. The subs were okay until about a few minutes in and then they got delayed somehow. Made things kinda confusing. I particular like the subtitles on everything because it can give a dubbed scene two different connotations which is always interesting. But episode 6 was tough 😅

It's just that Episode 6's subtitles were pretty messed up and de-synced(and I think it legit had another episodes subtitles in there.). You should probably upload a subtitless version of Episode 6. Other than that, they're completely fine when they're not busted like episode 6's subtitles.

The Issue last episode was that the Subs for Ep 1 were playing over ep 6, they didnt match what was happening at all THATS what was distracting, not their existence itself

I think like even though normally a poll would be majority vote I think in this case 40% of people wanting subs is a really good amount to keep them on. They are of very little difference to the people who don't want them but those who want them on might also need them on.

I don't see why their reaction shouldn't be the first time watching a show :/ I haven't seen Gurren Lagann before and don't plan to watch it on my own so why shouldn't I experience it along with them? If you guys have ever watched a show with people who like to talk about stuff as it happens you'd know that it can be hard to focus on what characters are saying.

There seems to be a possible misunderstanding here. The reason these videos are uploaded, and the reason we pay for membership on their Patreon, is so we can watch their reactions. If their method of providing entertainment is getting in the way of understanding what's going on, the shows they watch are usually pretty accessible to watch legally. I'm really glad that YaBoyRoshi reads the comment sections and listens to our feedback. If these subtitles interfere with your enjoyment of their reaction, that's certainly a valid point. Likewise, some people need subtitles to remind them of what happened during a show they previously watched through legal means. I realize this isn't a popular thing to say, but if you're watching this show for the first time and you want accurate subtitles because you can't follow the episode over their reactions, that's missing the point entirely.

Not gonna lie it was a little hard to understand where you were going with your point at first but yes I completely agree, the slightly inaccurate subs they are currently providing are fine, with the exception of episode 6 (I have yet to watch).

If the reaction you're watching complies with Fair Use guidelines, then I don't really care if you've watched the show before. Less than 10 minutes of footage should be enough for new fans if they really want to watch it on their own time later. However, if you're watching full-length reactions that display the entire episode (which is technically illegal unless you have permission from the copyright holders), that's when I have an opinion.

Austin that's not the point I'm making, the point I'm making is this is a Reaction channel. For people to complain they can't hear the audio because the gang are talking is nonsensical, if you want to watch the show and hear every detail, watch it yourself first. If there has been a new show they're reacting to and I haven't seen it before I go and watch it myself so I can understand everything.

The subtitles in episode 1-5 were fine but in 6 they looped over and ended up being minutes out of sync with the episode.

The problem was only with episode 6. For whatever reason, it was showing the subtitles for the alternative version of the episode that’s heavily censored. In that version, entire scenes are cut (you can probably guess which lol) so it’s filled with recap filler and the characters reminiscing. It doesn’t happen again in the series, I don’t think.

"(couldnt find a version that did)" If you can ever find a version of subtitles that actually matches the English dub for any show, someone fucked up. Captions SHOULD match the English dub, but captions and subtitles are completely different things (as much as some services [lookin' at you, Amazon] seem to not get that). The point of subtitles is to match the *original* dub (but translated, obviously), which is naturally going to be different from a localized dub. Related: It's seriously annoying when I try to play a game with a shit-tier English dub, switch it to Japanese, and it still uses subtitles matching the English localization (note: legit every game with an option to switch audio tracks does this). Anyone with a basic understanding of Japanese but not quite good enough to turn the subs off (assuming it even lets you) is going to have their brains fried with constantly seeing and hearing 2 *completely unrelated* sentences (which always happens with shit-tier English dubs).

I do find them distracting. But if they are others like the person above me, then I'd say override the vote and keep them on for the people who struggle with English and are hard of hearing. But also, tbh, that last episodes subs were insane. Nothing written was going along with what was being said at all, and might have been more confusing than good. Maybe if you're able to find something that matches as closely as possible, that might be better than just getting rid of them completely

Keep the subtitles on. It can be hard to hear what the characters are saying sometimes, and it's good for accessibility. It's bad enough that we have to watch the dub, please don't take away the subtitles from us too lol.

Bruh this sucks, the first dubbed show they do they put subs in so I can finally watch with them and follow along, gets taken down almost immediately lol. I love the dub and sub versions, but I cant hear when they do dubbed shows so the subtitles were a life save. Even if the subtitles didn't match at all, the gist of what they're talking about is still there, but if that many people feel like they're that distracting, I understand. Im just salty lol

ep 6 is fucked up because there are 2 completely different versions of it. The original was mostly a clipshow, and the subs for it were never changed for the completed version.

I think you're misunderstanding the problem that Roshi is addressing. The English subtitles of the video displayed together along with the reactions do not align with the audio, hence why it's distracting for others to read and listen since they're both saying two different things. In any case, sub > dub but that's just my opinion :)

so what I'm reading here is that you're actually so dumb that you don't know that people with physical disabilities that affect hearing exist, and you're so dumb you haven't read the rest of the comments to see that there are a bunch of people here who have those problems. and actually, yes, there are mental disabilities that can make it hard to understand spoken dialogue in shows, especially in reactions when sometimes characters and reactors are talking at the same time. this is why it's a good idea to think before you post, because now you're publicly a dumbass AND a complete selfish asshole. keep up the good work, genius.

im part of the hearing impaired crowd so id prefer the subs buuut, the last episode the subtitles "restarted"? (They were lines from the beginning of the episode, repeating itself, but in the middle or smthn), so at that point it was useless to me anyway... kee 'em if you can i guess?
