Isaac came out of nowhere and become my favorite character in the entire series. The dude is just so fun and interesting to watch. His character arc is so good and it only came from his chance encounters.

Btw just want to point out a few things: - Isaac, as a former slave himself, was once also a "tool." This adds *even deeper* layers of meaning to his conversation with Flyseyes here - Varney of London is a real life literary vampire who's original book Varney the Vampire; or, the Feast of Blood is a Victorian-era serialized gothic horror story variously attributed to James Malcolm Rymer and Thomas Peckett Prest. It first appeared in 1845–1847 as a series of weekly cheap pamphlets of the kind then known as "penny dreadfuls"... This book predates Bram Stoker's Dracula which was published in 1897. - Carmila herself is also a famous literary vampire who's titular novel also predates Dracula. Carmilla is an 1872 Gothic novella by Irish author Sheridan Le Fanu and one of the early works of vampire fiction, predating Bram Stoker's Dracula by 26 years - Striga's name/character is likely a reference to the *Romanian* mythic vampires, the Strigoi and Moroi - Some have theorized that Flyseyes is a reincarnation of Hypatia, the female Greek philosopher and the first female mathematician who's life is well recorded. The crusades had only just occurred in the time line of this show (the show is set in 1400s, crusades occurred in 1095-1291), so it wouldn't make sense for Flyseyes to be from then. They weren't really much in Greece compared to central and mainland Europe. Anyways, the fact that all this is in a show based on a god damn NES game shows how deeply and richly the writers of this show not only respect the source material, but how keen they were to imbue this show with as much intellectual, cultural and philosophical depth as possible. Nothing short of a masterpiece.

I was fascinated by the title, and how the episode jumped around the characters walking away from what they had believed their responsibilities to be, in favor of writing their own stories. The writing in this show is phenomenal and Isaac is especially compelling to me as a character.
