It's just some scenes that are a little dated and cross some lines from innocent ogling to possible sexual harassment/assault. I, as well as many others, don't have that much of an issue with moving past that and still enjoying the series. If that's not something you can do, best stay away.

Like some others have said, I highly highly recommend you guys check out Vivy: Flourite Eyes Song airing this season. It's written by the author of ReZero and animated by Wit Studios. Easily a top 3 show for the season, and #1 in my books

The best way that I can put it is that this isn't a normal isekai show where the dude gets transported and instantly becomes a saint in his decision making. He had a messed up mindset back in his world due to to some trauma,(I'm trying not to spoil as best I can). He carries both that mindset and trauma with him, even after getting a second chance. He does do some f@#ked up things in the beginning of the story,(said controversy), due to this, but the point of the story to watch him grow to become a better person at the end of it.

It's very ecchi at times, which is made slightly weirder by the fact that the dude is a 40 year old in an 8 year old body. If you've ever seen anything on the level of, let's say, Tenchi Muyo, you probably won't bat an eye at it unless the "40 year old guy" thing is a real dealbreaker for you.

The controversy is basically people consider the main protagonist as a old person despite being reincarnated as a new individual. They cannot accept the fact the person is a young individual because he retains memory of his previous life. When we define how old a person is how long he has been born. So when the main character does some ecchi stuff. People consider him a pedo because they consider him to be an old person doing naughty stuff to a young individual. When the truth is he is also a young person. Because the idea of pedo, they consider the story to be trash. When the truth is, it's one of the best isekai stories out in the market.

I've actually use Avatar the last Airbender as an example. We all know Aang is a reincarnation of the Avatar that has lived for thousand of years. And yet they consider Aang to a different individual despite the show express that Avatars are the same individual. If Rudy is an old person despite being reincarnated and trying to hook up to eris is consider him a pedo. Then the same logic should be applied to Aang towards Kitara. Even if ignore Avatar reincarnation. Aang is still 114 year old individual. But since Avatar is beloved the same logic is inapplicable to Aang.

The mechanics of reincarnation is different between the two shows though. When the Avatar dies Raava moves on to the next reincarnation so it's not true to say that all avatars are the same individual but that they all share the same spirit which connects the past lives to the current life. With Rudy he's just changing bodies cause he has the same consciousness when he got reincarnated. The thing about Aang being 112 I have no retort for.

When paul was saying that he wasn't going to look for rudy it was because he trusted rudy to take care of himself. Instead paul went to look for his wife and other daughter. Keep in mind, aside from being teleported somewhere else (if not just killed) with nothing, rudy and eris landed in the wasteland of the demon continent. Imagine if that had been zenith or lilia instead, without ruijerd to watch them. Also the two characters with roxy, zenith, and ghislane were all old party members of paul if you were wondering.

People can say whatever they want about Rudy but I know that I'd mess up big time if I had to worry about making enough money to house and feed myself along with two other people, improve the reputation of a race that was known for mass murder, know that we could be exiled for being with a person belonging to the aforementioned mass murder race, and be smart enough to think about a situation before charging in head first and full balls to the wall shonen style. Not to say that he doesn't deserve blame because he most definitely does, people have to remember that he was a whole bum before all this. The logic doesn't line up though. Their reincarnation were both different. Aang didn't wake up with Roku inhabiting his body and controlling him but Rudy was literally a 34 yr old man in a newborn infant's body which is the main difference. If it was Roku in Aang's body living his life then it would be the same as Rudy but it's not. The only thing that makes the Avatar the same person is Raava which they explained in LoK but other than that each avatar are their own person.

@Devin B Yes it does. You just don't want to admit it. You just don't want anything applicable to Rudy to be applied to Aang as well. Understand the lore in avatar have explained that Raava, Previous Avatars and Aang are a single individual. They have "merged" as one. Both characters are reincarnated. That's a thing with reincarnation. It's basically means a "new life", It's basically going back to zero. Because both character previous life have ended. Roku have died and Aang is born. MC life in Japan has died and Rudeus is born. Both individual have a new beginning with a connection to their previous life. Understand the concept of a previous life. The problem is you guys want to apply that Rudy previous life as a continuation of his life from Japan. Hence you describe him to be an old person. But Aang previous life to be not the same thing. Weird how you guys want to apply a different logic to each individual. And just to reiterate, the show have told us that Roku and Aang are the same individual. And no matter how you spin, this is undeniable truth. But you still want to apply a different logic for Aang and Rudeus Sure, there are differences between what the characters have retained in their reincarnation. But still both characters have been reincarnated. The same way how different authors have a different idea on time travel. Some authors would think if you did something different in the past. It would change the future. And some authors who thinks that you can't change the future(Ex. Avengers film). But regardless the difference in concept, both are still time travel. This is also applicable to the idea of reincarnation for Aang and Rudy. Just admit it that you don't want to clump both characters together because you have different opinion on each character. But you are just deluding yourself when there a clear similarities in concept.

Dude I barely have a different opinion between both characters. I like Aang and I like Rudy, both are interesting characters, especially Rudy cause he has to learn how to fit in normal society and understand social cues since he was a shut-in for most of his life before he died. I'm not saying that Rudy is a bad character cause if I didn't like him I wouldn't be watching this show. I'm just saying the reincarnation with Rudy is literally just a continuation for him hence why he kept his mind with him when he reincarnated. The only example I can think of that's exactly like Rudy's is Tanya in Saga of Tanya the evil.

It's not even that. People don't understand what character Rudeus is supposed to be. He was almost bullied into suicide at what 14, 15 years old, ever since that he lived as a recluse in his room. He had literally no social interactions from that point onwards, and all his social interaction before that were him getting hurt. He does not know how to function in a normal society, because all his knowledge came from playing video games, and the internet. Ergo, he was not a "normal" functioning human on many levels.

There lies the problem, you have different notion of reincarnation. Reincarnation is derived from religious concept that the soul is immortal and you transfer a new body aka new life in endless cycle. Until you find spiritual enlightenment. Reincarnation is literally a "continuation" of that particular soul. You still are pressing the notion that reincarnation of aang and rudeus are different. They don't even feel like they have actual genuine reactions half the time. Shit a lot of it is just them trying to keep up with the subtitles and they pause constantly to figure out simple stuff. I remember I tried to watch their rezero reactions and I made a blatant straight up comment about how they misunderstood and got something wrong and what do you know I get a reply from them saying something like (to the best of my memory) I was acting like an asshole and they were right about what they said and literally tried to explain to me the exact thing I was trying to correct them on as if I didn't know what I was talking about. This is in season 2 after they have consistently been corrected on multiple points they have gotten wrong and they do that after I just tried to bluntly tell them they were wrong and they didn't understand what was said. And I'm trying to say that the avatars share the same entity but each avatar are their own person with different personalities and whatnot. The way I see their situation is like transferring data to a new phone or using the cloud to access old data. Let's say you have an old phone but you're about to get a new phone so you transfer all your data from the old one to the new one. It's a different phone but has the same data as the old one (Rudy). Let's say you don't transfer the data but decide to upload it to the cloud so that you have access to the old data when you need it and you're just using the new phone as is, at that point it's a new phone with no data from the old one but you can get access to the old data from another source if you want to (Aang and Raava).

Nah, he wasn't about to wash away his hair color. He was about to wipe that entire city off the map like he said. Ruijerd sensed Ruddy's intent to kill & came up with an easier plan in the spur of the moment. He was saying it would have been betraying Ruijerd because he would have killed a bunch of innocent people, and maybe hit Ruijerd by accident too. However, killing everyone in the city is the only way he could guarantee that their licenses were safe.

Glad you guys enjoy the ride on this one! Just a few things , Eris Home , the Asura Kingdom , is on a whole other continent, and probably not on the coast since we didn't see the sea. When Rudy and Eris were teleported, they landed on the continent they are now, the Demon continent, and they landed far from the sea. You have to think that in a mediaval world, traveling on the same continent is by foot or horse , so it can take months to travel a couple hundred miles. Second, that little montage during the credits was a whole Year! During that year they traveled and were adventurers. They had to do missions to get money to be able to pay for the ride back home. That whole traveling arc and adventuring was only in the original novel (in japonese) , but was not kept in the official english traduction of the novel, nor in the manga or Anime. So at the end of the Episode , they finally arrive on the coast of the continent, and know need to find a ride home. Remember that since there has been wars between the humans and the demon , the number of boats crossing between the 2 continents is not that big , and probably cost a lot. Eris is now 13 and Rudy is 11. But since they have been fighting and living as adventurers for a year , they're even nastier now and have a whole lot of experience. But the trip is not over since they have to find a boat , and even when they cross the sea, they still have to reach their home country so if they do manage to get home, a lot of time will have passed. Roxy is just now arriving on the demon continent even though she was at Rudy's vilalge at the beggining of the episode ( so a Year earlier), so the rest of the trip will be at least another year.And remember also that they don't know the scale of the magic explosion. For them, only them, and maybe Ghislaine have been teleported, so they're in for a big surprise. This anime has so much more content to come since rudy is barely a teenager , and the novel is now way into his adult years. There's still the mystery of how and why he came to this world, the whole deal with the Human God, and a lot of nasty over things i cannot wait to see animated!

Dont take this for a fact, but I think Its a personal choice in the case of patreon, youtube has some strict and undefined copyright rules in terms of fair use, but idk if thats the same on patreon and in any case there isnt regulation for it here as far as I know, some reactors (like the Normies for example) simply like to adhere to copyright rules even on patreon out of respect fort the creators. Hope this helps, and if anyone knows better feel free to correct me :)

For the most part it's preferance. People like Roshi do full reactions because they're bound to bring in more viewers, less hassle on editing, and all in all makes the viewer feel like they're getting their moneys worth. Other reactors will make you sync because they fear the Ban Hammer. While patreon doesn't really ban anyone for uploading CR video they do take into acct who that CR is from. Disney? Good luck you might get taken down, however with Japanese animation studios in their native language? Well there's a lot of leeway for foreign film/television/cartoons mainly because their CR isn't exactly the same as the USA's CR. USA CR revokes the ability to share said video on a monetized forum without proper CR advocacy or ownership.

It is a good show with morally grey areas. If you can't handle that as a person, then that speaks to you more than anyone else. You don't have to watch it. But compared to the actual anime where people are animated being assaulted, this was mild at best. Barely above the normalized pervs that are expected in anime.

Loved their reaction to this anime, I watched all their episodes from youtube and in Patreon too, but as a Paul fan, the only disappointment to me was that they didn't listen well to Paul's letter, I think they would have understood more why Paul had to put off looking for Rudy if only they listened intently to the letter. Also yes, big Paul fan now even though I haven't read the light novel or manga.

It wasn't Rudy's fault, it wasn't their responsibility to watch them, and they were C rank adventurers on a mission, he didn't expect they'd get smoked in two seconds when they have experience and worked their way up to that level to take difficult missions.
