because the execs get in the way of most of their directors doing what needs to be done. Suicide Squad for example. Alot of the trailer footage was scrapped because execs wanted it to be more comedic like Guardians of the Galaxy instead of dark and brutal like David Ayer was initially trying to do. Justice League was a similar situation because they scrapped most of what Snyder filmed after he stepped away from the project and brought in Joss Whedon. the execs are too busy trying to compete with Marvel instead of just doing the movies right.

Just to point out some Marvel/DC stuffs, Atom (the microscopic/sub-atomic shrinker) came out first in 1941. Ant-Man came out in 1962, one year after the second "Atom" series started in 1961. Also, Hugo Strange (the psychiatrist) came out as a Batman villain in 1940. Dr Strange was first introduced in 1963. Dr. Strange was technically made to be Marvel's response to Dr. Fate (1940). Oh and both Marvel/DC have dozens of analogue/pastiche characters that are just straight up replicants of each other's characters. For example, DC has a few web-slinging characters of their own based off Spider-Man. Marvel in one of their comic storylines had their own version of the JL fight some of the Avengers. One of which was named "Rider", a guy in a cape and black suit named Wayne who is obviously based off Batman. His best friend/partner is Sun God, an alien living on Earth who channels powers from the sun and beat the dogshit out of Hulk lol.

Rocket showed that she was attracted to Aqualad when first meeting him, and Robin and Zatanna was more subtle when she was introduced in the show. These four did date but in the tie in comics off screen lol.
