Lakan legit has a medical condition called Prosopagnosia (face blindness) where he can't see faces. The only exception appears to be people he really cares about. He uses Go and Chess pieces as a way to compensate for that condition.

Blue roses are not naturally occurring in nature they typically it's white roses that are dyed blue. But I remember seeing a thing online that they managed to genetically breed a blue rose. Did not look too much into it so I don't know how true that is.

This episode really makes me think these 2 will love Shirayuki. While Kusuriya is essentially a medication mystery detective-esque period drama with a very, very slight hint of budding romance, Shirayuki is almost the entire opposite but still with a similar premise where the romance (and herb/botany) being the main point with the others I mentioned being the "side" things that happen throughout the series.

TBF she DOES do poison testing for him as well when he's visiting Gyokuyou, as well as guarding the bedroom during the piping (after all someone has to do that shit even during visits and even inside the Rear Palace which is already heavily secured due to being at the center of the capital of the empire & all that), i.e meaning mostly she just has to stand in front of the door to prevent any assholery happening, not actual bodyguarding shit per se
