A VR test I have been working on! Get your VR goggles ready!

There's a slew of possible rendering options. I went for a more middle of the line approach, somewhere around 6k @ 60 FPS (180FOV 3000x3000 per eye. )

(I don't really know what I'm doing here, if anyone more experienced can give me some tips for good overall resolutions or formats for VR, please let me know!)

Tested with 'DeoVR '

Settings : 180 Lat/Long and Top/Bottom. "Swap eyes" gave me better focus but that might be because I'm left-eye dominant.

180/3D should be the general option you're looking for.

:c the one thing actually pushing me to get VR. god damn it, mantis lmfao. i downloaded it on my phone. 3,000 wide by 6,000 high. is that.. normal? i wouldve figured itd be double wide. i have no idea how these work.

You can do either top/bottom or left/right. I'm not sure if it matters. The Video player then applies each section to the appropriate eye lense.. That's my understanding at least. There's also non-3D 180/360 video but that comes off a bit flat.

Google CardBoard or something similar might be a cheap option. You just need video playback capabilities, not full VR/gaming features etc.

Have you thought about looking into Unreal Engine for VR? I've tried it myself in VR in making a medieval hallway. It wasn't too difficult.

I'm not a fan ov VR videos. I like it more if its an actual VR environemnt I can move around in even when you cant interact with it. Thats why I like VAM more for this stuff

I haven't tried UE yet, but I've toyed with it in Unity with some success.

looks good man, i also had to swap eyes though, so might not just be a dominant eye issue since my dominant eye is right i think.

Thank you! Hmm that is interesting. Ive had a few other people say that as well. Maybe I should try side by side.

I may not be the only one wanting to ask this question. How much to commission the existing Nagatoro series into VR? A good minority or majority would be interested in the idea.

Oh man, time to bust out my HTC again and figure out how to use this!
