I'd love to see your reaction to the sequel. Joe Dante absolutely believed a sequel was a stupid idea so only agreed to do it if he had total creative control and so made a full-on parody of the first and movie franchises as a whole and I think it's amazing.

It was not until mid-1984 when the PG-13 rating was introduced. Until then, films like Gremlins, Poltergeist, and other films of the early 80s with a PG rating gave parents some unsettling surprises. I second Jon Deane's suggestion! I would also like to see your reaction to the sequel at some point. It makes fun of the original at so many points, and strangely, it actually works.
