I look at the mirror and see who I am today - I see my current state - state of makeup, of skin elasticity, does one see into their own soul when looking in the mirror...? I think sometimes. I have definitely had moments of clarity when making eye contact with my reflection... self awareness can be awkward sometimes, especially when you are living in recovery from alcoholism/ addiction. 

Just a quick bunny trail... I remember when I was in the height of my drinking identity, I was getting "lit" at "the Yard" with my roommates and some of our friends... this was around the time I was blacking out regularly... I just couldn't feel the happy/euphoric feeling alcohol had used to give me when I started drinking... so I drank lots of hard liquor trying to chase... "the dragon" i suppose. Anyway I was pretty smashed and I made eye contact with myself in the mirror after taking a piss... and I felt like I was making eye contact with a dead animal.  I will never forget that look - the size my pupils were, the ruffle of my unwashed hair, the crack in the lower right corner of the bathroom mirror. Anyway, it was at that point I knew I was losing myself. I got sober maybe a month after that, after my initial meeting with my 2nd DUI lawyer. 

Sorry that bunny trail was not so short... I digress...

ANYWAY Now when I look in the mirror, I see myself- my real self, my presence. Sure I have a bit of narcissism, a bit of self doubt, I over think things, I get impostor syndrome too, but the mirror does not lie.

Today is Valentines Day ... um who cares... I think Valentines day is stupid anyway, it's all about buying stupid crap I don't really want anyway - cards, teddy bears, candy, it's all pretentiousness. Maybe I am just too "Rebel" to get all hopped up on hallmark traditions... 

So for today, I am getting on a Megabus from NYC to DC, I have a shoot when I arrive at my destination, and I will be in DC until the 17th with many bookings!
