Been a bit since I did a bit of paint studies like this! Figured I'd make a small post sort of going over some of the studies I did this last week to help my color and lighting work!

Window study notes: In general I had wanted to do a figure study where I worked off of a reference pic and tried to paint it with Bod while maintaining the general values and temps (cool/warm)

-The light was brighter than I had initially blocked in. Really need to work on building the value contrast and levels in pics like this before I start to render. After updating and raising the value a few times I had lost some of the saturation levels I had built in originally.

-Abs still are hard as hell. Really need to work on creating a belly zone that doesn't have as harsh of shading. Softer rendering and transitions!

-Both cool and warm light can come from the light source or location. Things facing up towards the sky tended to get a cooler blue light, while anything directly facing the window got warmth from the sun.

-The FTL on the hip can really help sell the hip shape. Bent like that it becomes really visible and pronounced, and can especially define a softer yet more masculine hip/butt.

Copper Study: This was also a color and value study done on a still life of a copper pot! Been wanting to boost my metal rendering skills, and this was a fantastic way to learn some stuff!

Stairwell study: The last study was a bit of a longer master study from the artist AtelierPocket3E . Wanted to see if I could replicate a lot of the background and color work. So much of the bounce light was really cool to see on the original image, and I'd love to pic that up!

Very amazing work there! My brain actually was half confused when trying to see what was different between the stairwell you used as an example and the one drawn Overall very impressive, inspiring work there!

Thanks! Yeah I felt I got the colors and overall perspective pretty dang close on the stairwell one! Was a really fun study to do!
