So a few months back I'd checked with folks about posting a sort of end of month summary for studies and things I've been working on for my art. This is gonna be the first of those posts for folks to check out! Lot of gesture stuff this month as I continue to get use to the new tablet, but it's been helping out a ton :3!

Now on to the meat and potatoes of the studies! One of the big things I've really been needing to work on is proportions and the main body mass. Been going through Proko's videos on anatomy over at here https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClM2LuQ1q5WEc23462tQzBg which are seriously helpful for folks learning anatomy! Takes a bit of work, but they can really help a ton with learning how to draw characters :3!

These initial studies were done with the skelly model in one of the videos. Took an initial attempt at the spine and major mass placements (tan drawings) before coming back and doing a second attempt (blue sketches) to sort of correct and work on my proportions.

Next came 5-10 minute gestures studies from live models. Was sort of hit or miss on a lot of these, but they really helped work on my drawing speed and overall form! Plus just getting a feel for brushes and control of the tablet.

Gesture studies in general are one of those major things that really help artists get a feel for proportions and the feel of a body. Learning every little thing about the body is great, but unless you can put it together it doesn't help. BUt by doing these sort of studies you can really build up a good feel for how the body flows and moves!
