Here's some video from the sculpture night the other night.  So many people working on cool stuffs.

Mine's definitely the least fun of all these creations.

I just made a template to help me build other (hopefully) cool stuff off of.

Here's my little mannequin head thing.

Happy January 21st everybody

We painted gumball machines in art class on Friday. I mentioned the kids weren’t in to it and that I wasn’t either.

One of the kids said “this is so boring, can we listen to music.”

So I put on Mozart’s Requiem Mass. The death mass.

They said it sounded scary. They said it sounded old.

I told them it sounded old because it was written 200 years before I was born.

I told them it sounded scary because Mozart was writing it as he was dying.

I used to listen to the Requiem mass a lot in college. Me and my friend Mike Bloch were big fans of the movie Amadeus. So the requiem mass was on heavy rotation for us in those years.

Anyways, I know the music very well. So right before the Confutatis, I turned it way up and said “here comes the real fire.”

The galloping violins like the four horsemen of the apocalypse, slicing their path with scythes of doom as they ride, The bassoons and trombones hit like the fists of the devil cursing the earth, the thunder of the timpani, the tenor and basses of the choir sing out:

“Confutatis maledictis

Flammis acribus addictis

Voca me cum benedictis

Oro supplex et acclinis

Cor contritum quasi cinis

Gere curam mei finis”

translated:

When the accursed have been confounded

And given over to the bitter flames

Call me with the blessed

I pray in supplication on my knees

My heart contrite as the dust

Safeguard my fate”

Arguably the most metal moment in all of classical music.

The kids just stared at me blankly.

Anyways. It’s been raining heavily here. Even though I put on the Requiem mass just to mess with the kids, I got it stuck in my head and have been listening to it a lot on these last few rainy days.

I still love the roaring of the Confutatis but now I'm really into the somber moody tones of the Lacrimosa

Choir homework, listen to the requiem mass. At least the Confutatis and Lacrimosa.

Have Fun

Goodnight Sweeties

Sounds like your classroom kids are a fun bunch!! I started imagining their faces when you were talking abou Mozart. LOL! That sculpting class looked fu*king amazing! I bet it was a lot of fun! I'm in a rural area where I am and there isn't much "fun" here LOL! Great Job! Can't wait to see what else you create with your mannequin head! 🖤👁️
