Zoot!

To everyone watching - sorry for the long delay in picking more Mando. Lots of helpers this time, we're expecting to finish s2 with the next batch of picks :)

You mentioned it looked green screeny at one point. They actually rarely use green/blue screen. They used a whole new technology for this show called The Volume (Loki uses it as well). It's basically a huge set with 360 degree LED screens everywhere but the ground. They then just display whatever background they want. I think it uses Unreal Engine, so they can change settings on the fly - postiion of the suns, clouds, etc). Generally it looks super realistic when they use it, but I agree the town looked a bit off. There are some great documentaries out there on The Voume that are worth watching for anyone interested in behind the scenes stuff. To answer a question - the timeline is 5 years after Return of the Jedi. So this is Luke era, not yet Rey era, and well past Anakin era.

The ep may not seem like a very important one in the grand scheme of the show but IMO it was a great premiere. I like that they showed more dimensions to the sand people. Seeing them work with the town people was cool. Plus Timothy Olyphant is a great actor. I'm excited to see your reactions to the rest of the season.

Patrick - Excelsior

The Round object the Sand People puled out of the Dragon was a Krayt dragon pearl. These are mentioned in the expanded universe as extremely valuable and especially prized by Tuscan Raiders.

Krayt dragon pearls can also replace kyber crystals to power a lightsaber. So very valuable to more than just the sand people.

I liked that they took a book character (Cobb Vanth) and brought him into live action. Dave Filoni has been doing a great job of rebuilding canon from Legends material (though Cobb Vanth was much more recent than that).
