A little look inside our evenings. Our days generally start around 5am. Abe heads to work solving food justice issues while Izzy and I work on various projects inside and outside if possible all day until dusk. Izzy has a brief night play sesh in the garden chasing kitties before we hunker down for the night with hot food and music videos until he falls asleep and then Abe and I will work on projects till we’re too tired to think. We actually really like it and think working on what we love is fun no matter what time of the day it is.

Pass out. Wake up. Repeat.

My kitchen is the center of everything. Which is why it is also our studio. Everything happens here. I built all the shelves and counters using used materials and concrete for the counter tops. Abe and I built our home together with repurposed used concrete forms. One of my favorite things to do is build, especially with repurposed wood. The pillar Izzy is sleeping next to is the heart of our home. It’s a 12’ tall (3’ underground- 8’ above) beetle killed pine tree that I planed myself by hand. It’s the center of all kinds of activities for everyone including the cats who love to revolve their tag games around it. Our floor is super unfinished reinforced earth (mud w/ a teensy bit of cement) to create a hard-ish surface to build a permanent concrete floor on.

We like to name all the different areas of our farm here (Jack Rabbit Hollow Farm Animal and Wildlife Sanctuary). Our home sits within an envelope we call the homestead. Our house/studio is a 500sq.ft. Off-grid passive solar home sitting atop a 4’ man made (by me) hill we refer to as “Clover Hill”

Also wanted to point out my favorite power impact driver which I use to build, well, everything including the construction of Clover Hill. She lives inside the house, close to my heart.
