Video Call (Patreon)

The progress bar on the laptop chugged for a few seconds. Then the screen flashed and the desktop disappeared and was replaced by the image of Vinyl Scratch. The unicorn was sitting out on a balcony of her hotel room. Behind her could be seen an ocean sparkling in the early evening light. The moment her image appeared the mare started speaking.

      "Yo Octy! How are ya doi–" The unicorn's voice faltered as her own screen showed her partner. 

       Octavia shifted a bit in the bath tub. "Hello love. How are you doing? How's the tour going?" 

        "Wut? Uh. Oh! It's going um, great! Uh, how are you? Uh, Octy why are you in the tub?"

        The earth pony slowly ran a finger through her wet mane, pushing a bang away from her eyes. "Oh I'm getting by. Rehearsals for the upcoming fall symphony is coming along as well as one can expect. However this afternoon's rehearsal went way over it's scheduled time, and by the time I got home I really needed to take nice, long, hot bath. But that would've run into our scheduled video call, so I decided to multi-task and bring my laptop into the bathroom. Besides I figured you wouldn't mind if I soaked while we talked."

        Vinyl shook her head. "Oh no problem! No problem at all babe!" Her eyes drifted downward.  "So um, you were asking about the, uh, the tour! Yes that!" She looked back up into her lover's amethyst eyes. "We've been..." The eyes drifted back down again. "We've playing to um, full houses!" 

       Octavia shifted her hips and slowly rose a bit out of the tub causing the steaming water in it to slosh about. Rivulets of water trickled down the mare's warm grey coat. She smiled and looked at her lover with half-lidded eyes. 

      "And are you still thinking about adding another week to your tour schedule, or will you be coming soon?"

      "No! No! I think we'll be back in Ponyville by this weekend." The unicorn said in slightly higher pitched tone of voice. 

       Octavia rose a bit more out of the tub. Slowly she extended a finger and booped the unicorn's nose on the screen. "Good." She said with the tiniest of growl in her voice. Then she slowly settled back into the tub. "I've missed you a lot."

      Vinyl bit her lower lip for second before replying. "Same here."

     A patron reward for Octavia Melody. They requested a piece inspired by a drawing I did of Marble Pie back in 2016 Link. After talking to them this little story popped into my head as I working on it.
