With everypony's wardrobe at Sweet Apple Acres taken care of for the Ponyville Summer Barn Dance in my Equestria Dreamscape. Link The Apple Family turned their attention to the next matter that needed addressing. Teaching Stone Mane how to barn dance.

So that evening after an early dinner the Apple Family along with Stone Mane retired to the family barn for dance lessons. In preparation for the evening's instructions Big Mac had lugged the family gramophone out of the living room and set it up in barn. With that set up the lessons could begin.

With AJ and Granny Smith instructing, and with Applebloom putting in her two bits the mares started explaining the basics of barn dancing to the colt. However Stone Mane soon found himself utterly confused. He'd never been good at dancing and soon the mares and filly had him wondering how he was suppose to remember all these different called out steps and maneuvers. Even with AJ and Big Mac demonstrating them.

During a break in the instructions. Big Mac moseyed over to the colt who was sitting with his back to a wall with a worried look on his face. The stallion sat down next to colt and for several seconds he was silent. Finally he spoke up.

"By the look on yer face I reckon yer finding this all ah bit confusing." He looked over at the colt. "Am I correct?"

Stone Mane nodded his head. "I have no idea what half these moves and commands are. It's a jumble of words. This is bad as AB and her friends talking about clothes with Miss Rarity!" Link He looked up at the crimson stallion. "But you seem to know what you're doing. How did you learn all of this?"

The stallion chewed on the piece of straw in his for mouth. Then looked around to make sure none of mares were listening. Then he leaned over and spoke to the colt in a hushed tones.

"Don't let Granny or Applejack hear this but they all tried teaching me once tu,  and I was just as lost as yu, but then somepony taught him how ta du it."

"Who was that?" Asked the colt.

Doing another quick check that their privacy was holding Big Mac grinned. "It was my hoofball coach. Years ago there was big old barn dance I had tu attend, but like yu all this fancy chatter just left me more confused. He explained it ta me that it was like running drills in hoofball practice. He even drew up the steps fer them like some playbook."

Stone Mane looked up at the stallion like he was some kind savior. "Really?" He said in quiet voice. "It worked for you? Um, could I ask you to do that for me to please?"

Big Mac grinned. "Shur. I still have the playbook he gave me all them years ago. Whenever one these here shindigs comes up I always have ta look at ta remember a thing er two. Ya can borrow it."

"Thanks!" Exclaimed the colt. The stallion nodded his head.

"Just remember this here is r little secret. So dun't go ah tell the mares. Ya get it?"

     Stone nodded is head. "Yep!"

About then AJ decided to resuming the lessons. Stone Mane still didn't know what he was doing but now thanks Applebloom's big brother he had a plan.

To be continued.

How I'd love to share a barn dance with AJ. A lovely pic here!

I'm assuming barn dancing is somewhat analogous to square dancing IRL?
