The next 6 hours were a rollercoaster of emotions for Free n' Clear's in my Equestria dreamscape. What had started as a simple task of delivering some cookies to a pony she knew, admittedly with a bit of breaking and entering, had turned into a surreal adventure. Link

Now the filly had discovered that the mare named Heartbreaker, who she'd met just a short while ago knew the pony who'd led Equestria for the last thousand years. Princess Celestia. Even more confusing Heartbreaker wasn't acting like she was in the presence of an important, powerful leader of a nation nor was Celestia behaving as if she was expecting that from the mare.

In fact the only comparison Free n' Clear could think of was how her parents acted around each other. Which just left the filly even more confused.

Apparently both of the mares decided they needed to take a shower so while Celestia took her's Heartbreaker volunteered the filly to help her tidy up the living room. Which was, in Free n' Clear eyes, a total mess. If her mom had ever found her room like this she would've never heard the end of it. So over the next 40 minutes she helped Heartbreaker excavate the bulk of the detritus from the living room floor while Celestia bathed. When she emerged from the bathroom the alicorn was once again the very symbol of radiant elegance and beauty. Although the filly still found it odd to see her devoid of her royal trappings.

While Heartbreaker took her shower Celestia proceeded to make breakfast for the 3 ponies. The sight of the leader of the country wearing an apron and making breakfast in the kitchen of this simple bungalow made the filly wonder if she was really dreaming all of this. Still the alicorn kept her busy with retrieving items and chopping vegetables.

Soon a giant egg scramble of potatoes, mushrooms, onions, spinach, shrimp, and cheese was ready. It wasn't perfect and some of it stuck to the bottom of the skillet, but it didn't matter to the filly. Princess Celestia had just made her breakfast. A breakfast like her mother would've made. Free n' Clear had already had breakfast but she wasn't going to reject it. One out of fear of being disrespectful, and two because it really smelled good.

For the next half hour the 3 ponies sat around the table in the dining room and ate their meal like there was nothing out of ordinary about the situation. However as Heartbreaker started to clear the table Celestia took a sip of he coffee and addressed the filly.

"Now dear. From everything I've heard about you and seen this morning you're very smart pony. So you must have many, many questions. Also I'm pretty sure you realize that my presence here was suppose to be a secret, and thus by your actions you've created a potentially awkward situation for everypony involved."

Celestia took a sip of her coffee and smiled at the filly. "Am I correct?"

Free n' Clear looked down at her napkin and crumpled it between her front hooves for bit. Finally she spoke. "You've known Heartbreaker for a very long time haven't you, and she's very special to you isn't she?"

The alicorn refilled her cup. According to the filly's count this was her 5th cup. After adding sugar and cream Celestia answered her question. "Yes I've known Heartbreaker since she about your age. That's when I technically became her legal guardian."

The filly's face scrunched up as she levitated the tea pot and topped off her cup. "So she's your adopted daughter? But if that's the case why have I never heard or read of her before?" Then quickly she glanced at the mare washing dishes and then looked back to princess and lowered her voice. "And no offense your Highness but I figured any daughter of your's wouldn't be so, um, uh, well rough around the edges."

"I HEARD THAT!" The earth pony bellowed from the kitchen causing the filly to flinch. However Celestia let loose a hearty laugh.

"Oh ho! Oh no no! I said I was her legal guardian. Well, technically the Court was her legal guardian until she became a full grown mare, but I did have an important hoof in her upbringing and education." The princess then leaned over and smiled as she spoke in a conspiratorial voice. "And dear if you think she's rough around the edges now, you should've seen her when I first met her."

Celestia's levitation reached out and grabbed in midair the wet, dirty dish towel that suddenly came hurtling of kitchen and aimed at her royal head. Heartbreaker glared at the princess and then lit a cigar and proceeded to puff on it angrily as she resumed washing the dishes. Celestia's smile never left her face and filly couldn't help but giggle. However as the princess leaned back to her normal, regal posture her face took on a more serious expression as did her voice.

"However there still is the question about what I should do about you Free n' Clear?"

     The filly suddenly stopped laughing.

To be continued.
