Chibi reveal + Devlog #083 + Monstergirl poll #22 is on! (Patreon)

Happy New Year!

Here are some chibis! As you might know, these two are Nightmare and Vanille, two characters that predate the monstergirl polls! In fact, Nightmare even predates the current demo, she used to be a random encounter enemy in the previous one, which was more of a proof of concept than anything. Vanille did have a chibi sprite already, but I needed a few more for her, and this is one of them. It's the first time I've shown her full body, too.
Nightmare's chibi sprites here are her "idle" and "sad" poses. There is more of course, but that's all I'm gonna show for now! If you remember what her hair looks like in her battle sprite, you might have noticed that it's a bit different here. There are a bunch of things I don't like in how I drew her battle sprite long ago, and the way her hair looks is the main offender, so I figured I'd go ahead and change it now, and this is what it'll look like when I eventually redraw her.
This is probably the formula I'll follow for these chibi reveals, with 2 characters and 3 or 4 sprites.

As for me, I've mostly been drawing chibis again, and I worked on a special thing that I'll share in the next devlog. That special thing wasn't planned, but I'm very, very glad I did it, and I think you'll enjoy it! I also spent some time with my family, but I still made good progress overall. Still, even though I've now taken care of the characters that required a high amount of sprites, there is still a bunch of chibis to draw. I thought about it, and figured I'd take care of them this way:

Just like I did for the dialogue, I'm going to separate the chibis into 3 categories: The primary chibis are the characters that appear at least once in a main cutscene. These are the ones I've been focusing on so far, and that's what I'll keep doing in January. Unless something happens that prevents me from working, these will be done this month! After that, it will be time for a few cutscene only graphics, a quick general art check, and then implementing everything in the game to then build said cutscenes. The secondary chibis category contains every playable character that doesn't appear in a main cutscene (or won't appear in one until the final game!), and the tertiary chibis is everything else, basically NPCs. I'll be taking care of these passively as time goes on, whenever I feel like it or need a break from something else.
