How'd They Make the Vaccine So Quick? (Patreon)

Today, we go over the story of the covid vaccine development, and answer the question of how we know it is safe when it was developed so quickly.
Update: Since recording this video, it has been discovered that Guillain-Barre syndrome is a rare side effect of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine - 100 cases have developed, out of over 12 million doses given. Remember, when you give a vaccine to millions of people, side effects that only have a one in a million chance of occurring are going to be discovered (yes, I know that's not how the math works out here, it's just an expression).
Given that Guillain-Barre is also a potential side effect for Covid, as well as many other known potential long-term effects, I'd still take my chances with the J&J vaccine. It is also an important part of the public health aspect of the vaccinations - being a single dose vaccine, it is the preferred brand for people that are more likely to miss an appointment for a second dose - like the homeless, for instance.
