Not sure if this was discussed but Amazon decided on only 6 episodes this season (not what the writers wanted!) so they had to condense a lot of story into only a few jam packed episodes. You have all the information you need to determine that Sauveterre was transiting the Laconia gate when he and the Barkeith were wiped out by the Destroyers. He did not have the Protomolecule and Claroos is right that we never actually saw when the PM arrived at Laconia however at the end of S5 Cortazar confirms that "the sample arrived and we are already seeing beautiful results." The show keeps focusing on the alien looking ship in the sky thus one can infer that the Martians had some interest in this ship and using the info from Alex (that the glob of PM on the Roci in S4 woke up all the machines on Ilus) they wanted to bring the PM to Laconia and see what "wakes up". Claroos is correct that Belters (and other Inners as well) have decided to travel to other systems but the story is focused on Laconia through the opening events each episode. I wish we had more time for all the other systems!! Maybe some day!
