Chapter 4

Jesse was excited. This was a date. A real date! He was sitting in a fancy restaurant, with a beauty before him.

Stacey was hot, she was pretty and… well, she was a bit taller than him. She´s a 6´2” beauty, and with those heels she´s wearing, she´s a towering 6´6” beauty. Standing over a foot taller than him is… the usual.

He´s not a stranger to seeing a woman much taller than him. The heels actually make Stacey stand at Mavis´s height. Which is not an image he´d like to have right now. Not because of the height, but it´s weird to him to compare Stacey with Mavis.

Even if she´s her friend.

Jesse stood there, looking at Stacey with eyes of hope. He liked it. A date. A real date, with a real woman. A really pretty woman. He just couldn´t stop looking at her, she was so beautiful.

Mavis did it right, at least this one time.

“So…” he started, trying to break the ice. He needed to speak first, start a conversation. Show her he was spontaneous, funny, clever. And he´s been looking at her for too long. Good thing she´s been focused on the menu for a while. “Nice weather we´re having, right?” Did he really start with the weather?

It was a safe thing to say. Weather´s like the basic rule to fill out the silence, to avoid things getting awkward.

“Sure, it´s nice…” Stacey started. He was really hoping she added something else. But that´s all she said as she rose her eyes from the menu and turned at him. Now, it was his turn to speak.

“Yeah… not too hot, not too cold. I mean, it´s a bit chilly in the mornings, and really late at night. But during midday, and until noon, I think it´s quite nice. Warm, but nice…” That was boring. So what if the weather´s nice? Shouldn´t he be complimenting her?

“Sure. Although, I wouldn´t say it´s chilly…” she added. It´s only him who feels the weather´s too cool, for others, it´s just nice. But he´s slim, and she´s a bit lady, weather´s different to both.

“No, well… not that much, actually. Uhm… so, are you ready to order?” He asked.

Stacey was looking at him in a certain way. As if she was trying to find something in him. As if there was something wrong. Was there something in his face? He felt a bit uncomfortable. Was it something he said?

She was actually trying to find the resemblance between him and Mavis. She´s known Mavis for a while, physically, they are opposites. And in some other aspects, well, he seems too shy. Mavis is a confident woman, and he clearly seems overwhelmed by her.

She can see how his hand´s shaking a bit as he holds the menu. Which is kind of cute, he´s nervous because she´s too pretty. She knows it. Although, it´s not quite attractive, but she´ll take it as a compliment.

His other attempts to make small talk were a failure. Does she feel upset about him? She´s answering his questions, sure, but not with more than five words per question. Does she have a problem with him?

She can´t dislike him this quick, right? There´s no way she already hates him. He has barely spoken to her. Did she notice he´s been looking at her? Is she upset because of that? It´s hard for him not to look at her, she´s pretty. His first date.

Things were a bit quiet, until the food arrived.

Both had their platters before them.

“This looks so nice, right?” He said. Looking at a plate with a steak, a baked potato, and broccoli and carrots on the side.

“It looks tasty. And, mmm, it smells delicious…” She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Breathing in the sweet aroma of her dish. She ordered chicken, baked with garlic-butter, with mashed potatoes and green beans on the side.

This date wasn´t going as good as he expected. There wasn´t enough talking as he would´ve wanted to. Could it be his fault? He was a bit shy, but how could he avoid it?

Before him, there was a pretty lady. Her eyes were pretty, her lips were thick. Her body was elegant, with long legs, a nice butt. Graceful in her walk. She was like a model, a super model, and he was, well… him.

She was clearly out of his league, and he was sure she might be bothered by it. What did Mavis do to convince this lady to date him? Did she pay her? Had she promise more than he can actually deliver? Maybe she said some things about him, and once Stacey spotted him, she realized they were a lie.

This date wasn´t going right, it was too quiet. Lack of communication, lack of interest. This wasn´t working both ways.

Jesse´s the kind of guy that, whenever he feels sad, it´s immediately noticeable. Soon, he just started poking the food with his fork. Pushing the baked potato from one side to the other. His eyes lost that glow of excitement, and it was replaced with a gloomy shadow of depression. His mouth was just closed, not to speak anymore.

Stacey didn´t notice immediately, but when more than five minutes went by without him trying to say something. She knew something was wrong.

“Shit, does he know already that this isn´t working? Ugh, why am I so obvious?” She thought to herself as she decided to talk.

“What´s the matter? Is everything ok?” She asked. And no, it´s not ok. A man can tell when he´s being rejected. Even if they are in the middle of the date.

“Yeah. Everything´s fine…” he said, avoiding looking at her and just moving his fork on his plate.

“Are you sure? You have barely touched your food. Is there something wrong with it?” If Mavis finds out he´s depressed because of her, she´ll kill her!

“I´m not that hungry, you know…” She wasn’t annoyed because he was trying to talk to her, she was just… ok, she was too cold. But what can she do? This is a set-up date that´s not working. He knows how this works, right?

“Listen,” Stacey started. “I know, this date´s not working. But don´t feel so sad. I… I think we can still have a lovely night, ok? It´s just that… I pictured you as someone… different.”

“Different? In what way?” He asked, now rising his eyes from his plate and looking at her.

“Well. I thought you were a bit… taller. That´s all.” And muscular, but she won´t add that, the least he knows, the less he´ll feel bad.

“Taller? Why? Is it because Mavis is tall? Is that the reason why?” he sounded a bit upset. But who could blame him. When your sister´s twice your size, you get used to comparisons.

“Well… I don´t want to say yes but… yes. It´s not a big deal. I only… supposed you´ll be taller. That´s all.” She said.

“And now you feel disappointed because I´m short…” Ok, he was a bit mad. If he knew she was hoping for a tall, hunky man, he´d be pissed. Right now, he was just upset.

Jesse crossed his arms over his chest. Her sincerity was… worse than the silence. But at least he wasn´t sad anymore, now, he was pissed.

Everyone, everywhere, always compares him with his sisters. The tall, strong women. So what if he´s not as tall? So what if he´s not as strong? He´s his own person, and his body has his own things. His own benefits. And his own struggles.

Ok, now Stacey made him mad. This wasn´t getting any better. However, it´s not like she promised Mavis the date will go perfectly. Although, she could´ve been nicer. Maybe act a bit more interested. Make more talk. She acted as if she didn´t want the date to go well. Yes, this is kind of her fault. But maybe she can make things up a little.

“Don´t be upset. It´s normal. Not all dates are perfect. You… you look like a nice guy, it´s just that… you´re not my type.” She said.

“And what´s your type? Let me guess, for starters, taller, right?” It´s always about the height. Whoever knows his sisters first, and then meets him, they immediately point out the height. He hates it.

“No, well… a bit. But that´s not the deal. Listen, I know you´re nice but… there´s a few things you should work on…” And so, Stacey decided to do him a favor.

This date was awful. Not since the beginning, but it just wasn´t going in the right direction.

She apologized this wasn´t going to work, but at least she could do him a favor. So that not all of this was a waste of time.

“I know you don´t go out to much dates. So, let me give you some advice. So that, on your next date, you have a better idea of what to do. Ok?” Well, that was nice. And if the advice was good, he could forgive her.

They chatted for a while about what a lady likes on dates. The questions he should make, how he should compliment her. When it was ok to approach, when not to. The basics.

He had a lot to learn, and he wasn´t sure when he´d find the right girl, but if he could find a way to learn from his mistakes, then, sooner or later, he´ll be able to have a nice date. And luckily, get some action.

Kissing, or maybe something else…

Stacey was not the only one to blame. Ok, she wasn´t to be blamed. He just doesn´t have the skills to make a date work. However, she´s gave him some good advice.

Maybe this won´t go as far as he hoped. But at least he learned a few things from this date. Not all dates have to be a success, but there´s always a chance to learn. Who knows, maybe he´ll become a Cassanova someday.

Hopefully, soon.

Meanwhile, Mavis and Corrie were chatting at their house.

“Do you think I should go pick him up?” Corrie asked.

“What? Pick him up? Don´t be silly. He´ll come on his own.” Mavis replied.

“Are you sure? It´s late, and I don´t think it´s… safe out there.” Corrie was worried, she´s the one that always cares too much.

“Safe? Come on, he´s a man. Besides, he´s with Stacey. She´s a tall girl. He´ll be fine. He can take care of himself, and in case you´re still worried, Stacey can take care of him. She´s strong.” Mavis knows Corrie´s way too overprotective. And she also knows she´s not happy with that mere explanation.

The discomfort could be seen on Corrie´s face. She needed to do something, but she wasn´t sure what. And she had an urge to call Jesse too.

“Ugh!” Mavis started. “I´ll text Stacey, I´ll tell her to give Jesse a ride home. Are you happy now?” So annoying.

“Very. And thank you.” Corrie replied. “So, how do you think this date´s going?”

“Well… if I know of bro well enough, I´d say he´s too overwhelmed by Stacey to talk.” Mavis said, sure enough that Stacey was hot, and that he was too shy.

“Oh, come on. He´s not that shy. How do you know he´s not good at this? Hmm?” Corrie said, rooting for him.

“Cora, it´s Jesse we´re talking about. Do you think he´s actually a stud? If he was good at this, then he wouldn´t need us to set him up on dates. Don´t you think? Gosh, I just hope this isn´t going too bad…” Well, it wasn´t working, but it wasn´t too bad.

“Just remember those things and you shouldn´t have any problem on your next date.” Stacey said as she finished with all of her advice.

“Wow, that´s some great advice. Thank you!” He was amazed. So much things he didn´t know about.

“No worries.” Stacey replied, and then she heard the sound of her phone.

She picked it up and read the message. A message from Mavis. She replied, with an “Ok” and some emojis.

“Your sister wants me to give you a ride home…” she said.

“Sorry?” What?

Soon, a message arrived to his phone, but this one was from Corrie. And it said the same. Stacey will give him a ride home.

This felt so wrong. Both are handling his ride back home? It´s as if they had strings on him. This was so annoying. Even when they are not there, they had a need to control things.

On the way home, as Jesse rode on the passenger sit next to Stacy. All he could think of was her beauty.

Such a tall, pretty woman. Way out of his league. Why did he got so upset? It was obvious this wasn´t going to work. She had the looks, the body of a muse. He could see how her cleavage bounced a little when the car bumped over the rode. He could see her thighs, so thick.

What was he thinking? He´s a zero compared to her.

The good thing is, even if there won´t be a second date. He´s certain there has been some good advice in this date. Literally, she gave him her advice on things to do on his next date. She wasn´t a love guru or anything, but what she taught him was better than his start point.

There´s more than just looks, not everything´s based on how handsome, muscular or fancy you are. There´s more to it. For starters, being funny. The deal is, is he funny?

There was more than just that in her advice. Which he appreciates.

“Thank you. For the ride and all the advice.” Jesse said as he got off her car.

The amazon smiled and said: “No worries. Just make sure to keep in mind what I´ve told you. It´s not like a manual or something. But I think it´ll help you on your next date.” He wanted her to be his next date, she was so pretty. But this didn´t work well.

Besides, she could´ve advised him out of pity. His attempts to make small talk were lame. He had no charisma, and he didn´t even compliment her. Her outfit, her hair, rings, nothing! That was a good way to start.

Mavis was laying on the couch when she heard Corrie saying: “They´re here!” Looking at them through the window. Hidden, yet, it was still the front window.

“Gosh, Corrie, get away from the window. Let them be, ok?” Out of the two, Corrie was way too nosy sometimes.

He hopped off the car and make his way in. With a lot in mind. And a few questions. When will his next date be? And, with the advice he received, will he be better at it? At least, to get a kiss? Or even better, a second date with the same lady?

As soon as he opened the door, the first thing he saw was his sister.

A pair of fleshy, long legs. Wide, creamy hips. He rose his vision, past her enormous cleavage and finally, he met her face. A huge smile drawn on her as the 6´8” woman greeted him.

“How was your date, Jesse?” She asked.

His first question was, why was she standing there? For how long has she been there? This is one of the things he hates. Was she spying on him? He can tell she was, else, how could she be there at the same time as him?

But he was not going to complaint. “Fine… I guess.” It wasn´t the best date ever, but things were… well, she didn´t leave before dessert.

“Awww, it didn´t work out?” Corrie asked.

Mavis was hearing everything from the couch. Looking at her phone as she heard what she knew would happen. Of course this date wasn´t going to work. Stacey had… higher standards. But, given the little time she had to find someone, it was the best she could get.

She knew this wasn´t going to work, but at least she gave him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe, just maybe, it could´ve gone better. But knowing him… there were too little chances.

“Don´t worry. We´ll find someone else for your next date. Ok?” Corrie said, trying to make him feel better.

But the thing is, he´s not feeling bad. At least not too bad. Sure, he screwed things up. He needs to work on a couple things, the good news is, she told him exactly on which.

He went up to his room, leaving the two amazons alone down there.

“Well, I guess your friend won´t see him for a second date, right?” Corrie asked.

“No. If things had worked, he´d be in her bed right now…” Mavis said.

“Hey!” Corrie replied.

“What? I´m just saying… whatever, just remember, the next one´s on you. Now, it´s YOUR turn to find him someone.” Mavis got the first date, now it´s up to her sister to find him another one.

“I know. And I´m sure that, with all this time ahead, I´ll surely find someone for Jesse.” Corrie was decided. She already has a plan. “Mae…?”

“What?” Mavis replied.

“Do you think making interviews is too much?” As always, she wants to have things as organized as she can.

“What? Interviews? You´re setting up a date, not giving away a job. Of course it´s too much!” Corrie always takes things too far.

“Ok… then, could we make a profile? Like, on a dating app or something?” They can list up all the information, and possible dates will come up to him by themselves.

“Nope. You need to chat on those before meeting someone to date. And we´re not going to pretend to be him. If we do, then we´re just proving we´re as controlling as he said. Just… ask a few of your friends. Or, new people working at the office.” Corrie was a bit older than Jesse. Five years, which is a bit too old to him. At least that´s what Mavis thinks.

“New people at the office?” Corrie asked, while thinking to herself. This could work…
