And the plot thickens! Your reaction to this episode did not disappoint...this episode did indeed slip into the realm of horror and it was obvious it really succeeded in making you feel creeped out. To be fair, hearing Kaie's "I don't want to die" over and over again here still give me the chills lol With this reveal about the Legion and how Shin can hear them, if you go back to the previous episodes...there are so many little hints that were given that at first glance seemed innocuous without the proper context. Little things like Shin talking about how reading helps him to not focus on "it"...which with context is hearing the Legion. This episode is not even the first time that "Sheppards" and "Sheep" have been referenced by some of our characters in Spearhead. And of course there was the little bread crumbs of the static noises that we would sometimes hear and Lena being confused as to how Spearhead would deploy so quickly. One thing that hit me particularly hard when I first fully grasped this episode is the karmic horror of the situation that the Republic has created. Among their 86 "policies", the 86 are not allowed to bury their fallen...which essentially provides the Legion the raw materials to create the Black Sheep. And thus increase their numbers and extend the war. The Republic is indirectly responsible for their own extinction agenda for pity's sake (though it's really hard to pity them in general). I also wanted to clarify something related to (14:30) your comment/rhetorical question about if the Legion was "using audio... on the radiowaves" in regards to those voices. Back in episode one, it was explained that the Para-RAID is capable of sharing sensory data of the brain. It's a detail that can be glossed over since it was from the first ep...but it's an important one. So, when Lena syncs with Shin and the others, it is more than just a fancy phone call. She is sharing the sense of hearing with those she is sync'd to. So Lena was experiencing how Shin himself perceives the voices of the Legion. Suffice it to say it is likely a far, FAR more disconcerting sensation than compared to listening to those voices of the Legion filtered through an electronic audio system.
