Yo!

If you didn't see my last post, we're returning to making our monthly 5e book anthologies, BroadSword Monthly. Originally, BSM was done in 8.5 x 11" black and white softcover. And while it'll still be softcover (hardcover is super expensive to print with anything less than 1,000 copies), I'm not sure what size/design I want to make.

I have three options.

  • Letter/A4. This is the "traditional" size for RPG books, being the size of a typical piece of paper. DCC, D&D 3.5, etc. used this style. This was BroadSword's old size.
  • Digest/A5. This is the smaller size for RPG books and is super popular with zines. You see this a lot with indy books.
  • 7.44" x 9.69"/Osprey/DMDave-Size. This is the size we've used for our other books, particularly the Dungeons & Lairs and Just Passing Through books. It's also the size that Osprey Publishing uses for all its products.

Regardless of the paper size, the spine will be too large to make them staplebound, so make sure to consider that when choosing (IE, you can't just open it and leave it open the way you could with a DCC book or 3.5 book).

I look forward to your opinion!
